Wheelspin in an *AWD*

i still dont get how all 4 wheels have to spinn the same speed yet theres no power going to the back wheels on a normal well operating condition.

my wheels spinn up front too. but thats because i have a big turbo spoolin on me.

I dont mean to highjack this thread but I have a similar problem. I have noticed a diminishing rear end grip since I've been driving the car so I had it up on jack stands yesterday and stuck it in drive. I noticed that the left front wheel would spin and the rear right wheel was spinning. If I stopped the left front with my foot the right front would spin which is normal and if I stopped the right rear the left rear would spin. so I guess the diffs are working ok but I'm unsure how to check to see if the duty c selenoid is engaging and if the clutch is set right. I thought I read somewhere that there is an adjustment for it up high on the back of the tranny.

if you're going to swap out struts, GR2s are wonderful, though in retrospect the AGXs might have been worth the extra bucks so I could have a real stiff back end for towing, or a real soft ride for picking my mom and grandma up from the airport.

In a 5MT, that FWD fusible link isn't active is it? I mean, the manual AWD tranny is just straight mechanical in its center diff (viscous coupling), no solenoid controlling the power, always 50/50 AWD (unless driveshaft disconnected)... correct?

On the same note, 4EAT's with their duty cycle-controlled rear power could potentially be rigged up with a driver-controlled center differential, could they not? Hmmm....

correct.

technically yes....but it's a little more complicated then sending a variable continuous voltage signal.
