I see two nipples..now what?

Post by NZHall »

I have replaced all 4 sets of pads on my 1990 JDM Legacy wagon, and bled the brakes so the M/cyl, lines and calipers were flushed. My question is, do you bleed the ABS unit itself? I see two bleeder nipples on the top of the unit in the engine bay, and to completely flush the system of the old (moisture absorbing) fluid I reckon the ABS unit and lines to it should be bled too. Any special procedures or traps for unsuspecting ABS newbies here, or is it the old... one person, "up...down...up ...down" on the brake pedal with the other person beavering away with a 10mm spanner and clear hose on each of these two ABS unit nipples?
Thanks for any advice.
Iain

I don't have the info off the top of my head, but one way some people bleed the abs system is to turn the car to the "On" position, pull the abs fuse and put it back in. This cylces the abs pump. Whether that's a good way to get the old fluid out.....I'm not sure.

I'll try and remember to look in the manuals on abs bleeding.

If you don't see anything just remind me.
