I need a title for my car HELP!

Post by magicmike »

OK, heres the situation, I bought my car from a salvage yard for parts only, with a recipt for parts. I do not have the title, but the guy wouldn't sell me the thing any other way and I needed to buy this rare find. So anyway, I have no way to get the original title for this car and I wanted to put the motor back in it not into another car with a title. The Rhode Island Resgistry will not register a car without a title so I'm screwed. I think I might have to buy a beater and put my motor in that. does anyone have any ideas??????? Where can I buy a car with a clean titel but perhaps a blown motor or something for cheap??????

You need to take a trip and talk to the nice ladies at your local license bureau. They should be able to explain what you need to do.

Probably not an option, but if you move to Montana you can get a new, clean title for it. People in Wyoming buy salvage cars and them get a clean title in Montana, then sell them as clean title vehicles. I encountered this in my hometown of Casper three times from different dealerships when I was down there. Thank God for Carfax. You can't erase the VIN's history with them.
