Hella 550 fog mounting ideas

Post by gustavohuber »

Hi everyone, looking for an idea on where I should mount a pair of Hella 550s on my wagon. I found them unopened at a garage sale for $15 and couldn't say no, even though I've never precisely been hard-up for light. I'm thinking on the outer edges of the underside of the bumper, or maybe behind the cut-out panels near that same area. I've never mounted accessory lights, though, so what's the deal, do I need to sink it into metal, or is the body plastic enough? Thanks!

15 dollars, nice steal. They need to be mounted securely so that they don't shake too much which usually means that one mount needs be attached to steel. If you do a little searching I think there are several pics floating around. I'd say you'll be happy with the improvement.

I wanted to do something similar so that I have my fogs mounted.. but I've never found enough time to actually remove my bumper and git'r dun. Ideally, a drilled mount would be best, so that you don't have shakey lights.. I hate that. :(
I plan on putting mine in the cutout area on the sides, since it's an NA bumper...
