92 Engine Swap

Post by JOE590ME »

I have a 92 Subaru Legacy that is Front Wheel Drive, And I have a 93 Legacy That is All Wheel Drive, They both have the same 2.2 liter engine in them, but the 93 has a turbo, can I put the turbo in my 92 legacy? If i can, what will I need?

yes you can.

swap everything from the engine crossmember to the wiring and from the intake to the exhaust.

i also reccomend doing some searching on the forum. alot of people have done this.

what is wrong w/the AWD turbo 93?

are you going to swap the AWD too or keep the 92 FWD?

A FWD turbo subaru could be alot of fun. i always wanted to rally a FWD turbo subie as they are in G5 allready. might was well add a turbo.

Subaru = Lego,

Find an 5 speed from a non-turbo legacy and put it in at the same time, they are cheaper and as tough as the turbo one, but with shorter gears, 4.111. :wink:

Mine has 200000 + km and still works better than my friend wrx's
92 l swapped to ej22T with 2.0T shortblock
4.111 manual 2.5RS tranny, sti eng mount, wrx I/C, MBC, WRX turboback exhaust, WRX front seats, STI rad cap, WRX specR1 struts, Eibach springs , leg turbo front brake, WRX rear brake.

The 93 AWD Subaru has more problems then u can imagine, and i like FWD better anyway, i dont have the money for an automatic tranny, can i still use it with the automatic FWD tranny? and so it is pretty much just lpug and play?

I suspect the tranny will have an easier time as extra power will be bled out through the wheels rather than absorbed by the transmission. Of course, this bleeding of power through the wheels will be quite frequent.
