STi pics (120kb)
Well I finally got my roll of film developed so you all are about to get hit with a bunch of pics. It took me a while to get my friend to take his STi out in the mud and when we finally went out most of the road was gravel but there was still a good little puddle (excuse the lines and shit from an old scanner glass)...

^^^ I'm trying to figure it out now.
Edit: I couldn't figure it out, if someone could please fill me in that'd be awesome as I'm posting several other pics that I'd like to post rather than put links.

Someone's always got to go and show me up.... nice picture though
. Unfortunately when I took the photo of my friend's STi it was a little cloudy and I had to set the shutter speed to 500 instead of 1000 and that's the reason for the slight blur to the edges
. Give your friend my props, photography is a rather big hobby of mine and I can see he's put a lot of money into his equipment. I've just got my dad's old 35mm manual minolta and the picture of the STi was taken with just a small 55mm telephoto lens.
Thanks for the offer to resize, I have photoshop but don't really know how to use it and just use paint to make my pictures smaller.
And if I never said welcome to the boards before - Welcome Brad.

when you first said skipper, I thought you meant driving your car. I thought, how in the world could he drivae and photo himself...then I saw the pics and realized you meant rock skipping. That got a good laugh outa me.
Thanks for welcoming. Do I need anitiated?
Yeah he and I have been doing photography and websites for a few years now. Its what we went to school for. Here is a gallery of my daughter playing with sand...I got some good stop motion out of it...
http://www.anavey.com then go to gallery 3 and check out 10 through 14... The sand wasn't moving to fast but it is still cool to catch the sand like it is floating.
By the way, the site sucks and I am to lazy to fix that right now. I have to many other projects going on. Oh well!

ah, thanks man. Photography is definitely fun. I have a Nikon D70 that I love playing with. I saw your camping pics. Looks unreal. I bet it was a great trip. I cant wait to get out and away for awhile this summer. Last summer we went kayaking in Wisconsin of all places. It was on lake superior in the Apostle Islands National Park. I wish I could say I took my Subaru but she stayed home for that trip. I had just had some major rim and tire issues and my wife pulled some serious threats of not going if we took my loosy. So we took her car (98 monte carlo) and had serpentine belt problems on the way back...well, a bearing in the tension pulley actually. So I got to say, shoulda brought the wagon!
anyway, if you are interested, the pics are here...
http://www.anavey.com/apostle and the last 2 shots are me tubing behind my friends boat. (he is on the tube with me actually and is the one that took the shot of my loosy in the mud) I took all the pics except for the last 2. I must say the coolest part was kayaking out to the islands and then hiking and camping with no one else around. Not as rustic as your blue ridge trip but still awesome!

Sucks about the belt troubles and yeah, you should always take the subie
.
The backpacking was great ... I prefere to measure my personal space in square miles. Never done much packing or camping at the beach. I also do a little white water kayaking and love the surf kayaks at the beach but have always wanted to get out in one of those touring ones. That looks like a beautiful place, and superb sunset shot too. What filters are you using? I've just got the skylight and just recently got a polarized.

that is polarized only. The lens was a 24-85 f3.5 AFS. I dunno which I love more, My car or my camera. I have about the same money wrapped up in both...sad huh. Yeah, we are reversed on the kayak thing. I have done sea kayaking and enjoy it. But I crave the excitement that I think white water would give me. The problem with Indiana is that the later is not much of an option. I have rafted the upper gauly out in West Virginia but I didnt have time to try the kayaking as I was in a group of 3 others. We did the 4 man raft because it could get more action and shoot tighter runs. Someday soon I will get in a ww kayak. Do you own one?

Okay cool, I been wanting to get some more stuff for my camera but really haven't spent any money on it. Just using my dad's old stuff, I have a regular 50mm lens, 62 wide angle, and the 55 telephoto, all plenty older than me.
Rafting the upper gauly can be a lot of fun depending on what time of the year it is. I've been on it a few times, rafting, and had a blast. I have a nice old slalom kayak but no skirt for it. Kinda limits me as to how intense of stuff I can do but it's sweet. It's great for working upstream through small stuff, turns on a dime and is extremely maunaverable.

we went in october when they said you got the most action. It was quite cold already... I think it was the second to last weekend you could take a raft trip with a guide anyway. We used rivermen.
can you get a skirt for it? I think kayaking is such an intense sport... whitewater anyway... I wouldn't mind just getting the rollers for my yakama and mounting one up there just for the pleasure of having one on top of a subaru. My snowboards look super sexy when there is a subaru underneath them. I recommend strapping into a snowboard in the middle of the night with it in a yakama for some teenwolf surfing if anyone ever gets the chance.
you cant truly appreciate AWD until you are on the roof!!!

Hehe, can't say I've ever been up on the roof.
Yeah the water gets cold, never really gets all that warm though
. I can't remember who we use as a guide but it's always fun.
I don't think I'd be able to fit a skirt very well. My mom's cousin and her husband own a bike and kayak shop and gave us this kayak used a number of years ago. I've done a little FG work to the hull but the lip would need a lot more attention than what I'm willing to put into it right now. My biggest complaint is that I can't do an eskimo roll without one but I haven't rolled it unintentionally yet. Once I'm out of school I can afford to get a new one, my biggest problem though is finding one I fit in - I'm 6'5" with long ass legs. But yeah, it's a great sport.
