What color?

Post by jake15 »

so i went junkyard shopping and i found a good set of wheels from a 97ish outback (15x6) for a spare set of wheels. but the clearcoat was not very purdy since they came from a wrecked car, so i'm re-painting them with some duplicolor wheel paint, and i cant decide which color i want to paint the wheels. so help me decide.

i'm leaning toward the bronze, but i cant really make the final decision. the second can of paint goes to my GT wheels whenever i get around to painting them.

Nice find. I would normally say gold but I don't know, the styling of those rims just causes me to lean towards the graphite. I just don't think the gold would look that great on them. Just my .02 though.

What color is your car?

If it's black, green or red, the bronze would look stunning, but if it's white I think the graphite would look killer.

That's just my opinion, though.

I'm still sticking with the graphite. If I wasn't in the middle of finals I'd do a photoshop job for you with the bronze and the graphite.

What kind of rubber are you putting on the second set of rims, like a performance/snow/something else specific?

Those wheels in graphite will look unique. Do it.

For what it's worth, I say Graphite too.
I've never been a fan of gold or bronze wheels, especially on a bright red like that... bronze would maybe go better on a darker burgandy or maroon.

Or go with this!!!!
MMMWAHAHAHAHAAA!
I saw a neon driving around town the other day that was completely covered in this stuff!!! I guarantee it looked worse than you are even imagining right now.

BTW I like the wheels you have on your car in that photo better anyway.

well.... we painted them bronze, and they actually look pretty good, i havent put them on the car yet because i still need tires, but i like them. the paint was ALOT darker than the cap indicated. i'll get a picture of the finished product. and the wheels that are currently on my car are going to either get powdercoated or painted with the graphite when i get money, i havent decided yet, but they are definitely staying on my car.

i still havent decided what the purpose of these rims are going to be. i've narrowed it down to autocross rims, or "offroad" rims. their most likely going to be autocross rims.

and i saw that "mirage" paint at the store and laughed when i saw it, i think it was the image of somebody trying to paint their car with it

i like how they turned out, there is a few spots where the clearcoat was off and it looks a little funny, but overall they look good. i think i've decided on them being autocross wheels, so i just need to find some nice tires that will fit :D

Damn dude those look real good for doing them yourself. The bronze definately looks better than the cap indicates but I'm sticking with my vote of graphite ;). Let us know how they look with rubber and on the car.
