VF23 or VF34?

VF23 or VF34?
I know there have been some posts on these two turbos but I have come to a fork in the road and need to choose which one I should get. I have read the IHI spec sheet and I'm still not quite sure which one to buy. I was planning on getting the VF23 but the 34 is not that much more. What are your opinions? I'm sure your going to ask so I'll tell you my current setup and future upgrades.
Current:
Stock motor, with stock internals fully rebuilt with P&P heads
GT spec header w/up-pipe
Future mods:
High flow fuel pump
injectors
some sort or A/F control
some sort of boost control
FMIC
Catless downpipe

Many of the hardcore WRX tuners say that even the VF34 runs outa steam for them over something like 20 psi. Ofcourse the redline is higher on their cars. It depends on what kinda boost you want to run. VF23 is smaller than the VF34 but it will spool much faster. If you dont plan on running something like 20+ psi, then I would say go for the 23. If you want to run alot of boost, then go for the vf22. If you want something inbetween, then just go for the vf34... although i hear that vf34 has some reliability issues for highboost/longterm use. Some people like to go with the vf30 instead because it is not roller bearing thus less likely to break. just my 2cents.

34 is the best! if you can get it go for the 34 over the 22, 23, or 24. all the guys over here are going 34 over the 20 series turbos

its the best mix of bottom end and has similar top end to the VF22 so for streetability it is the best in the IHI turbos, oh.... and check my location before asking stupid questions.

Woah woah, play nice. People prefer different turbos for the amount of lag (or "perceived" lag) in their setup (stock all the way to wild). No name calling needed, geez. Sometimes the lessons learned in kindergarden are the ones most needed.

If you want a superior turbo, you need to make you car adapt to T3 flanges. A T3/T04S4 will spool at about 3000 and stay with the revs untill your engine explodes. The compressor inlet is 4in in diam that can pull in more air than you can shake a stick at. It pumps out 605cfm@bar and it holds its eff. from 22lb/min-34lb/min and even still doesnt drop off hard till 38lb/min. Even at 2bar the turbos eff. is almost identical to when set at bar. Now THAT is a mean ass turbo.

well its a matter of whos will to put in the wrench time. I think that all subarus come with IHI flanges... so those would need to come off. A set of T3 flanges would have to be welded in thier place and then you may have to reroute you oil and water line(s) and install an external waistgate. The turbo will spool as littleas you want but really isnt much better than a TD05 untill you hit bar and above... then youll see the power and eff. that its capable of. Is it overkill.... on most cars yes. If you want high boost though, its the turbo to go after.

Are you forgetting that our stock engine internals and for that matter even aftermarket internals can't handle much over 20lbs of boost maybe 25 pounds MAX? Taking into account detonation prevention.

the stock internals are good for about 350bhp.... anyway you can get there, theyre good for it. Be it by a turbo, nitrous, or a supercharger, its good for it. Since that Bar is equal to 14.7psi, anyhting above that be it 20psi-25psi... its really worth the extra effort. Hey...I'm not trying to be arguementative or anything. All I'm trying to do is keep my original post on track. I had already made up my mind that I wanted a vf23 or a vf34, I was just unsure which to get and wanted some input from the people here. Any suggestion that anyone has is a good one as far as I'm concerned. Information is good to have and other peoples perspectives on matters is how we all learn. In any event I already bought the VF34 so this whole thread is basically nil unless anyone has some input on a vf34 they'd like to share.

might also consider a vf-30 or vf-39
from vhsinu's testing the 30 and 34 had identical spool/power chartistics .. the 34 is just more expensive due to the berring type
the vf-39 is off the usdm sti .. slightly smaller than the 30 better spool but less top end
