well i decided since everyone is retarded and cant offer or pay a decent price for brand new parts i am gonna dump money into my legacy. so here goes...

i got everything done, all but the timing, with the crankchaft set to 0 degrees where the hell do my cam's have to be turned to to be timed properly?? it seems to be firing when the cylinder is all the way down or somewhere in between.

its a 1994 n/a ej22 legacy wagon. hope someone can take a picture of what there's looks like so i have something to go off of.

p.s. anyone out there have a used MAF?? i am in need of one to be able to drive the car when it is timed in.

There was an Adobe pdf file floating around here somewhere that explained the whole timing belt replacement procedure. Thats what I used to do mine. But even so, there are marks on the two plastic covers that are bolted to the heads behind each cam wheel and a TDC mark on the crankshaft sprocket which should point north as well. Just do a search here and I'm sure you'll find that PDF file.

its so beutiful! it runs!! my timing was sooo off its crazy, i was about 180degrees off on both cams!! thanks to Legacy777 for the diagram of the timing marks, it did the trick for me. and magic mike i am sure i can do this thanks for the helpful comment about the adobe pdf, and the fact its a small mission, well i just got done pulling the damn thing down to nothing but bottom end in the engine bay (i have no hoist or engine stand) slapped in a new set of heads and gaskets and new valve cover seals, i heard those leak after a couple hundred thousand miles. my subaru legacy has 130,000 original miles!! right on the mark too, i drive around the block 14 times to get it to roll over to that exact mileage bottom end knocking all the way!! so i get the new motor in with the new heads on it and it is as if it was new at 130,000, new axles, new clutch, all put in in the last 2000 miles, i have a cone style air filter, and a bad ass muffler for it and i destroyed the original motor in it with the same mods, maybie this will last longer.

make sure you replace the grommets on the valve covers as well.
