My Toe Really Hurts
I had way too much to drink on friday night, and woke up on saturday with a sore big toe on my right foot. As the day progressed it didn't get any more sore, but the pain did not let up either. Then I worked a 8.5 hour shift on saturday, and with standing all day an day and wearing actual shoes(instead of flip flops), my toe was quite sore. Later that night I tried a dexterity contest between my two toes, my right one can only bend half as far as my left one. It does not appear to be swollen at all. It only really hurts when I bend it, and it hurts all up that bone into my foot. The joint or "toe knuckle" is where it hurts the most.
Should I take ibuprophen and wait this out, or go to a doctor?
and no sh!t bonerz...

Wait it out. If you can move it, that's a good sign. You probably either jammed it or strained it.
If you have really good insurance then maybe go ahead and go if it will give you piece of mind.

Wrap it up and walk on. My ex was a dancer and she would break toes and keep dancing (actually heard the pop when she did it in front of me once - rather disturbing, but her display of steel ovaries to wrap it in an ace bandage and continue turned me on even more than her usual just being present).

i broke my toe a couple months ago. hurt like a son of a bitch. but there really isnt much that can be done for a broken toe other than to have them tell you its broken. you could try buddy taping it. that is when you tape it to another toe for stability.

If it were broken, there'd more than likely be a line-shaped bruise going across the toe. And I'm sure it'd hurt far more than it is now. But you're right, they hurt like a sunova, and there's nothing you can do about it short of staying off it and taping it/wrapping it to the next toe to keep it more or less straight.greg donovan wrote:i broke my toe a couple months ago. hurt like a son of a bitch. but there really isnt much that can be done for a broken toe other than to have them tell you its broken. you could try buddy taping it. that is when you tape it to another toe for stability.

If it's not terribly swollen or multiple shades of purple then I'd say you only jammed it good. If you broke your big toe you'd know it. You can break some of the smaller ones without knowing it's 'broken', but the big toe you'd know. Buddy wrap it to toe beside it, keep taking ibprofin and wait it out. That's my suggestion at least.
