New Kid on the Block

Post by magicmike »

Well, every sunday there has been a car show in a parking lot on rt. 6 in seekonk MA. Its all american muslce cars. I took a ride down with the g/f yesterday and we ventured/drove over to the parking lot next door and saw the "import" car show which looked like just a bunch of friends hanging out. I drove by slow from a distance and looked over to see some pretty cool cars but I felt a little like an outsider and didn't feel that welcome to just pull up and say hi. I'm not sure what to do as I mostly see a couple of wrx's and a few evo's and srt4's and such. I'm sure I'd be welcome but I'm older and dont really know how to approach the "younger" croud. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Just drive in, I'm sure at least a few people's attention will be caught by your car(if they know anything), and theyll most likely wander over to check it out.

they sound like they're the new-school crowd. Likely the only way to impress them is to show them that your car isnt JUST a wagon.

Show them your knowledge, and that you have a cool job in the automotive industry and they may be interested

Geez, Mike. . . I'm older than you and I can still manage to walk right up to the youngsters and see what's going on. (That was before I even got the STee, too)

If they're worth hanging out with in the first place, they'll understand and not judge based on what you pull up in. ;)

If they're true car/Subaru fans then they will gladly welcome you. The Subaru community is very welcoming and open for the most part.

Oh you bet. . . if it weren't for the parties I used to throw, I would have had to resort to that just to get Laurel's attention.

You mean your 5-year plan and OLD BALLS weren't enough?

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

Dood. . . five year plans scare the youngsters away!

The old balls are doing the trick now, though.

Look man, if you want kids to like you, you're going to have to get a hold of Arts balls. There's no two ways about it.

I would just park next to them and go into a store for 10 minutes. When you come out, give a hello and a compliment on one of the cars, and see if they recognize the tleg. If they don't, then they're typical 2ners and not worth the time anyway. If they do, BLAMMO conversation started and hang.

no no no. You gotta have the lingo down.

"yo yo homies, yo shizzle tight. Id race yawl for pinks, but mines stolen and I aint got none"

What ever you do, show no fear. The youngsters can smell it, and often times turn into packs of wild Apes, tearing off your arms and beating you with them.

i can usualy pick out ricers fairly easily but id say go up to them and strike up a conversation beginning with or leading to "so do you guys street race" then pick the slowest car and race him, beat him and your in

Fly though the parking lot. Slam on your e-brake and spin around. Get out with your cop glasses and throw your mullet back. Then walk over to a car and talk shit to them. :-)
