Heck. If you were to make up some of these housings for sale, I'd be interested. I can't afford the lights yet, but it'd be a nice 'for later' project.

Will these fit just any 90mm light? Maybe once this gets done the first time, we can take the initial design and port it to other sizes/types of lamps to throw in there. Is that doable, Steve?
I've got a set of HELLAs I wanted to maybe use as a setup for this.. I'm scoping out bunches of different lighting schemes, with this project in mind...

As long as they physically fit within the housings. Otherwise, you're on your own. All I'd need to adapt to something different (that will physically fit) is a mounting template and positional preferance.

As for my own progress ... damn weather isn't cooperating. It's snowing right now. I also decided to go a little further than I intended and glassed the housing in. Now I need to clean it up, finish polishing the last lens, and put them together.

I'm waiting until they don't look like ass to take more shots ... actually, because my computer's USB decided not to work anymore, I have to use my sister's computer to transfer the pics to a disk and hers is in the shop. Anyway, I probably should work them today.

They'll definitely be done by the S&F.

It rains every weekend and I have other things I need to do when I get the few hours between precipitation and it's warmer than 50 degrees. In a few thousand years there will be a rain forest here. Why do I live here again? They're pretty much done - I just need to figure out how to instal the separating grid (which I don't need as it's just for looks) and assemble them for install. Lenses are not perfect, but I give the fuck up - they're good enough.

Just got a set of 92 head light from Junk yard. Its a good time to start the project....hehe...

How long and how hard to clear out the lens as like yours??
Does anyone thinking to put a set of Bi-Xenon lens kit from BMW to our Subby?

Will it be a good idea to just clear out the lens and put a set of HID on it?Just wanna make life easiler since projector are so expensive...

Any update on the fitting to the car with pics?

HID will be more expensive than halogen projectors.

The primary flaw I see in this whole project is that the design retains the original plastic, which is one of the main flaws in the stock design. Eventually it WILL oxidize. If you guys are going to so much trouble to get better beams, why not go a step further and eliminate the original plastic lens?

If the 'original plastic lense' is clear-coated after all that sanding business, the oxidation tends to keep off a bit longer. ..and you can always re-sand it..

I've been looking into the bi-xenons meself.. spendy is the word, there.

I think the 92s lighting setup is pretty efficient, but that won't shy me away from making another set, and probably mounting some driving lights, too...

Here's a pic of the setup, but more rain for this weekend, so they won't be installed.

It seriously rains every f'n day here except days when I work, but even then it's severely overcast and might hit 60 degrees. I'm getting real fed up witgh the weather here. Global warming effects over the last five years have really ruined the weather which was always unpredictable, but at least followed a predictable seasonal pattern. Real estate prices are completely absurd and there's no business for tuner shops as the fiscally conservative rich just buy expensive boring German shit and leave them stock.

Only the non-religious, educated, standoffish people; ocean; and the history are keeping me here.

Waydamminit - how come there's no fluting inside the original plastic cover - I thought that was molded as part of the inside of the cover. How is yours absolutely clear?

Werd. Apparently you CAN sand the lenses down to the point that you'd lose the actual lense guidance.. neato.
I wonder what else, as far as plastics are concerned, would stand up to the road abuses.. perhaps we could fab our own plexi-lenses for this project?
