Stuck rear window!

Post by DLC »

I've had a few intermittent problems with the left rear window in my car rolling up, but last night it wouldn't go up at all.

It did roll down, but neither the switch on the door itself or the drivers works. All other windows roll up and down just fine.

Interestingly, when i push the toggle to roll down that window on its door, i can hear the motor whine, but it doesn't whine if i use the drivers switch.

Is there a bad connection in one of these doors? Has anyone else had this problem?

So i took off the rear panel, tinkered a bit and made a jumper of sorts that let me roll up the window. I left the switch disconnected, because it seems to be the switch itself.

At least the window is up!

Good work Dave! My BMW buddy had the same thing happen to him. He had to replace the switch itself. Should be an easy part to find though.
