Star Wars episode III
Did anyone else see this movie yet?
Maybe it's the fanboy in me but I liked it a lot.
I thought that it set up the original three just fine.
Plus it has some of the better light saber battles. wink wink

I can't wait to see it, I'm a die hard fan. I've seen episode 4 probably 50 times at least. I own every movie except III, obviously. It would have to be really bad for me not to be completely stoked on it.

I guess it'a an expectation thing. I'm wasn't expecting to see the best movie ever. I just really wanted resolution to the plot line. There were a couple cheesy moments in there and I agree the dialogue was stilted and cut off but that's part of the charm in my opinion. You're talking to a guy who liked watching all the corny 50's sci fi flicks.

Left school on thursday to see the 12:30 show in Selinsgrove (had tickets to the midnight show but the parents veto'd them). Utterly amazing movie, saw it tonight with the parents and they enjoied it as well. A good time all around. I'm a huge Star Wars fan (geek?) though, like I've read all of the expanded universe stuff (except the prequil stuff).

I saw it tonight. It was pretty good, though there were the occasional instance of poor acting. But all in all, it was pretty sweet. Yoda was definately bein a pimp.

I saw it last night with my daughter. I loved it but of course my daughter decided she just HAD to take a pee right at the epic battle between Anikan and Obe Won. Errrrrr. I need to see it again.

I saw it yesterday. Much better than I and II. Most of the lightsaber fights were good, but the Wandu and Palpatine fight seemed a little slow. Maybe cause they're old guys.
I hated the scenes between Anikin and Padme, they just didn't work for me.
I was expecting some lava emersion, as I think that was hinted at somewhere in the SW universe. Kind of disappointing that didn't happen, but that part was still good.

I was not expecting oscar winning acting but it wasn't the worst.
The dialouge at times seemed forced. And the scenes between Padme and Anakin seemed odd and awkward, like there was no real chemistry, but then again, it kinda had to be like that to conlude their relationship.
R2D2 has been deemed droid pimp of the year.

Haha, read this article, it's a pretty interesting point of view of the empire and the "Dark Side", which I've always had a sneaking admiration for (must be the force lightning).

I think this is the reason I like the films. It's not so much the story line but the philosophy of it. You are expected to root for the rebels but, at least in me, I got the feeling that I didn't exactly see convincing arguments that the empire is entirely evil (now that I'm an adult). I think it's the whole idea of absolutes and the fact that we're raised in a republic, not an empire. Empires are more climactic and forcefull. The empire is clad in black and white, displaying their right or wrong attitude where the jedi wear brown, earthy tones which hint that they judge each situation by it's own merits. I like black personally and that color alone wasn't enough to convince me. On the other hand I root for the Jedi because they have the right intentions and struggle for truth and justice (and becuase I like Yoda). But isn't it true that sometimes truth and justice can be a double edged sword? It parallels our own situations. Who is right?

This is why I'm hoping that with the right push my 'Dante Chronicles' could be big - the Evolution Movement are the bad guys, but I think a lot of people would agree with much of their beliefs.
Maybe I'll see this one if I can get one of my girl friends to go so I don't feel too geeky. I saw Episode I and didn't like it at all so I never bothered seeing II. I loved the first movies when I was a kid.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.
Ok, but there was also slavery under the republic and the empire fought the hutts.AWD_addict wrote:
That article largely ignores the widespread racism, slavery and other bad things the Empire operates on. Expanded universe or no, those things are referenced in the movies. We'll just have to wait for episodes VII through IX to see if the Rebels' plans were better.

Kick ass movie! I'm borderline super-star wars-nerd and enjoyed all of the movies though. I think part of the reason a lot of people don't like the first three episodes was because there wasn't as much going on and it was a lot of political garbage, and the lack of Harrison Ford
.
Seriously though, Lucas made the first three because they were the most bang up, action-packed of the six episodes. His intention, from what I've read, was to draw people in with Episodes 4,5 and 6 and then give the viewer all of the more sedate Episodes once they've been "infected" with the Star Wars bug. Granted, it's become much bigger than Lucas could've ever imagined. This episode definitely tied up a lot of the loose ends that I was wondering about, and did it in an amazing fashion. It was really intense watching all of the Jedi die, and I left the theater drained.
Three cheers for George Lucas and his wonderfully imaginitive creation.

Yeah, but I don't think it was ever on the scale of an entire planet or most of a species. And fighting the hutts was probably just another step in dominating the whole galaxy, or because the hutts weren't human.creel wrote:Ok, but there was also slavery under the republic and the empire fought the hutts.
My point was that the author seems to be dealing with the differences in organization between the two sides rather than what the implications of each would be. I'd want a vote if the fate of my planet was being decided.
