Power Door locks

Post by Flip_x »

i have a question about our power door locks. i got my alarm installed today and i wanted to get that feature that opens the locks when it unlocks. but the guy said i needed some acuators.. but it has to be power doors because the other ones open right? if it is what is the wire diagram for there?

there has to be something that sends a signal to the other doors to open.. thanks alot

Main thing is then the driver's door wouldn't lock, as there is no actuator in there.

The power locks on these cars are funky.

All the doors except the driver's door have actuators. The movement of the driver's door lock button past a certain point causes an electrical signal to be sent to the other actuators, and the door to open.

So what you need to do is have an actuator installed on the driver's door to move the lock button past this point, so it opens all the other doors.

There's no other way around it. I opted not to bother with the actuator when I had my alarm installed. It was roughly 100 bucks more....and back in the day when I was in high school....that was cash I didn't feel like I need to spend....especially since the alarm & install were in the $400 range already.

I got this actuator from All Electronics:

http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/c ... type=store

It took me about 20 minutes to install it and get it positioned right.

i think there is a actuator on that car.

because how does it open it with the key.. it has to have some kind of actuator that can open and close it.

i figure this because when its locked the key locks it right?

Turning the key mechanically moves the lock, just like pushing on the lock handle. You need to install an electromechanical actuator that allows an electronic device to move the lock.

dude, trust us, if there was a way to do it without an actuator we would know. no one wants to add an actuator. I still havent added one because I'm too lazy to.

On a similar note, how can you adjust the lock in the driver's door?

Whenever I open the door from the inside, it closes the lock and thus locks all the doors. Also, it will sometimes lock me out, from it locking when I close the door. It's getting really annoying.

There's no actuator. When you turn the key in the lock, you are mechanically moving the lock button and linkage which triggers a switch that sends a signal to the other doors to unlock.

You need to go here, that's your problem. Use a paper clip, it works like a charm. I've done both front doors, and need to do the rear driver's door if I get around to it.

Thanks for the link.

Did both handles (driver's side) that were broken in under 30 minutes.

Also, does anyone know how to adjust the window gussets?

I am having TONS of wind noise coming from the area where the mirror attaches to the door, and the dealership told me it involved adjusting the window gussets.

This was all I could drag from them without paying, so.....

I've read in a thread on here that there's an access way behind the triangle piece to the mirrors and that's where the noise is coming from.

In that thread it talks about using some sort of insulation to seal that off.

The only catch is that removing the black plastic triangle things usually breaks the clips off. I bought two new triangle things, and am planning to try and work on things this weekend. So I should be able to tell you whether it fixed the wind noise, or if it's something else.

I guess I'm the only one who went so far as to install an actuator in the driver-side lock for my remote?

Remote starter / power door lock control / alarm = $250 installed

Actuator for drivers side door = $100 installed

This was quite a few years ago but I believe the guy is still in business here in Orlando, if anyone's interested let me know and I could go dig up his business card (possibly)

I was planning on getting a decent security system w/ remote start and a turbo timer when I start back at best buy. I get a HUGE discount off of the system itself and installation.
