HKS type 1 turbo timer questions

Post by TurboSubie »

when I got my turbo timer it comes with a plug and in this plug are three different colored wires...a green one, red one, and a blue one with brown rings around it...does this plug into something? what are each of these wires for?

The red is the power, green and blue are both signal wires(on position from ignition cylinder). There should also be a black (ground) and gray (handbrake).

I have an automatic... sorry...im kinda new to this...just trying to save some $ anyway you sould sorta walk me though this? lol

All right I'll give it a try, the red on the timer goes to something that's on when the car is on, the radio, or something like that. The green and blue both go to the signal wire, that one is red on the ignition switch harness, if you take off the cover on the steering column, you should see the harness coming from the switch, it will have a six plug connector, and a red wire going down into the dash, that's the one you want. You can leave the handbrake one unconnected since you have an auto and the car won't roll away. Any other q's, you can ask I'll try to help.

Yeah, you can just leave it. If you want you can connect it to the handbrake switch, but you dont have to.

the red wire coming from the ignition switch, is it in a "electrical tape tube) with a black ground wire? this leads to a two wire connector where it leads into two more wires, when I dissconnected this switch...it still started up. this six prong connector..is it on the key side of the ignition module? sorry, im pretty bad at this

Thats not it. If you disconnect it the car will not start. Its a six plug connector.

it looks like you splcied into the plain black wire on the other side of the connector...I hope thats what you did cause I did the same..also is there any other switched power source I can tap the power wire in the plug into. I have a power wire running for my air fuel ratio gauge and don't wont to fry any wires...any other possible options. othe than this I am finished..did you run both the green and blue wires off the ignition power wire. what would happen if I ran the power wire to the battery?
