need a front skidplate......badly!

Post by NuwanD »

hey guys, i've done quite a bit of damage to my car over the last year since i don't have a front skidplate. I haven't had any luck finding ones built specifically for our cars (that doesn't cost too much). Does anyone have one for sale? Or does anyone have measurements/template so i can easily build my own?

thanks in advance

btw.. damage includes; bent rad cradle, smashed timing belt covers twice, smacked oil pan, exhaust heat shielding is non-existant.

I found one somewhere for around $150 but I can't seem to find where that was. Anyhow, I had a friend who made one out of scrap aluminum 1/8 inch think. It wasn't pretty but it was very effective. I think it cost him like $10 to make. I think he used a hammer to pound it into shape. Another option is to buy steel and weld it or have a shop bend it to your dimensions. One of my co-workers is the owner of OffRoadToyStore.com and he amkes custom skidplates for Jeeps. I've asked him is he could make one for me and he said that his Jeep ones usually take 5-6 attempts to get right. But then again he's gotta have them good and they have to be perfect.

thanks for the link, however i've seen that one and it's a bit too pricey for me considering i'll have to get it shipped to canada.
