clean cars are fun

Post by greg donovan »

so i finally got a day free to wash and wax my cars.

tried the McGuires' tech wax. it was OK for a 13 dollar bottle of wax. i preffered eagle one wet but it appears to have been discontined.

here is the SS

they look good. The Meguiar's tech wax is amazing. I love that wax so much. My only complaint with it is how quickly it gums up the towel used to remove it.

That's cuz it sucks.

:P

No joke, i'm really not happy with the quality of meguiars polishes and waxes. That silicone stuff wears away too easy. Makes ya hafta wax too often IMO.

thanks.

i am saddened by the extent of the rust damage to the car.

mechanically she is really solid. i dont want to do it but i see a reshelling happening w/in the next 5 years. one rocker panel has a hole in it and the other is close.

the fenders trunk and door i can deal with those can be fixed w/the turn of a wrench. it is the rear quarters rockers and the dogleg in front of the rear wheels that worry me they require welding and body filler.

Is Griott's significantly better? And do they make wheel wax?

Don't use their paint cleaner unless you absolutely have to. You'd be better off just clay barring, polishing, then going over with a couple coats of their #26 Hi Tech Yellow wax

I've used a lot of different waxes. The guy that painted my SS turned me on to Wizards Breathable Polish and Sealant. The more coats you use, the better the car looks. It's easy on easy off. It's expensive, but it gives the best looking shine. I usually go over my car 3 times, and then after wiping off the third coat, I take a slightly dampened soft microfiber cloth and wipe the car down to remove any left over smudges. Here's a link.

I used "The Wax Shop" products on my Volksie (the car with all its paint), and we also use it on our guards red Porsche, and makes the 911 look beauty!
