WRX struts/stock springs?
Are there any known issues with using the stock rear springs/top mounts with WRX rear struts in my '91 turbo Legacy?

FP = Front Upper Spring Perches, RP = Rear Upper Spring Perches
SPT = Might need washer between rear top nut and top mount.
Would you like me to copy and paste the spring rates for the two different cars too?

Re-read my original post. I'm not asking if the pieces will fit together. I'm not asking for the spring rate. I know that already!
Give me a break.
Does anyone else have some real results so this thread doesn't end up on someone else's search with no actual new information?

It might be hard to find a spring perch that will work with a set of rear strut tops that fit and your rear springs. When I put STi take-offs in last weekend, I was under the impression that I could use my existing upper spring perches and topmounts (I had a set of group N GC tops, which are the same but harder) with the STi springs but my perches were too big. I ended up "adjusting" the holes in the rear tops. There also might be some positive camber in the rear without some aftermarket camber bolts. Mine look to be less than a degree positive, but it's very noticable when driving. The bolts will go in when I take it to be aligned.
When you ask a question, it helps to be VERY clear about what you want to know.

Sorry, i thought you just had a poorly worded question, and I've answered more than a few questions by quoting that damn thing. It's tiring.ac30treb wrote:Give me a break.
STi's have different lateral links (making a wider rear track)and less negative camber from the factory. The flange the hub bolts on to is different on STi struts, so on a legacy and you end up with positive rear camber. It shouldn't be a problem with a wrx, and several people have wrx suspension. Since i know about it, it must have been posted about, so searching is still your best bet.
Of course you know that wrx springs are softer in the rear and stiffer in the front.

I should have been more specific. I was proposing WRX stuts, with Legacy springs, upper spring perches, and top mounts. Lots of people post about using the WRX struts and springs. I'm yet to find a thread about using the stock springs. No big deal.
Anyway, I decided to put them on to see what happens.
Looking at all of the parts, I was afraid there would be too much positive camber but wasn't very concerned about ride height. I knew it could be higher but didn't think I'd mind.
Since the lower spring perch is higher on the WRX, I was hoping that the stock (legacy) springs would compress a little more than normal and maybe ride a little stiffer.
The results: The camber looks fine and drives well, but the rear end is now sitting pretty high. (probably too high) I'll compare it to stock and post the difference.
It works, and is a great improvement over my broken rear struts but it's not a long term solution. I'll leave them on until I find a deal on the right spring perches and then switch to the WRX springs.
