Crank pulley making odd rotation and stuff. video inside.

Post by scuzzy »

took some really low quality video (sorry, best my camera does) of my crankshaft making what looks to be an odd sort of rotation, almost like it's off center. infact, exactly like it's off center.

here's the video

also, I caught two more (more audio than anything) of the exhaust note.

let me know what you think of these two (the sound part, that is):

Well, because of what I just went through for the second time, I'd check to make sure the bolt is tight and/or torqued. If it's not, you may want to take a look at everything and make sure it's all in good repair.

Yeah check the torque but most likely its time for a new pulley. I had the same issue and it was the hard rubber that sets between the pully and inner pulley body had broken loose. I got a hold of a 2002 wrx pulley for close to nothing.

a 2002 WRX pulley fits fine on our EJ22/EJ22T engines?

Yep fits right on. Dont fall for the sti hipe because that pulley is actually haevier. There is a light weight pulley but I think it runs for about $200.00.

due to my oil leaks (crank front seal is wearing out and leaking under high load), valve cover leaks, and overall under performance of the car - I think I'm just going to buy a EJ22T.

been wanting to anyway; snag a 22T, the cross member from the car; and clean that engine up abit/do whatever else needed.

I'm spotting some online in the $300 to $400 range at a salvage yard in running condition (reportedly)

might be a better investment on time and money.
