Two SS's (ess esses.... that's right)

Post by free5ty1e »

My new (to me) 1992 Legacy Sports Sedan has been assigned to a truck for pickup tonight, and will arrive here Thurs or Fri!! I bought Dave's car, and I can't wait to get it. Now I will have two of them! I'm freakin' stoked.

A LegacEBC will be going in, first thing, and we will know exactly where the stock turbo runs out of juice (or where exactly it smacks the MAF rail).

I will get a photo of the twins side by side and post it up. Woohoo!

:D :D :D

Hey Chris,

I can't wait to see the pics too. I know that'll make the wifey feel a little better. It was sad to see it go. Hopefully the Russian guy gets it there safe and sound. He was pretty cool and had a sweet rig, btw.

Take care,
Dave

PS- I guess I need to update my profile signature. Damn. I'll leave it for now.

...Stoked. So freakin' stoked. :D

Oh - if I can, I plan to also catch the rig pulling up with the new Scooby. I figured it might look pretty bad-ass on a car carrier, and this is the only opportunity I can think of to get a shot like this. All will be posted.

Yeah, I wanted to get the camera out yesterday, but I decided that it wasn't a moment I would want to relive, so I didn't. As a matter of fact, I think I need therapy at this point :?

Yeah, that's what happened in the first place
The 2005 GT is great, but it kind of lacks character. I guess that comes with age though. I'll also miss owning a rare car like the '92. I'll have to find those production numbers, but if I remember right, they only imported 11 of them that year. It was pretty cool being able to own one. Just like the two '85 RX turbos I had before that. Those things were rad. So I guess I've owned every generation of that car now. Cool.

Found the production numbers:

http://www.visi.com/~jimcox/J&K_Subaru% ... 20page.htm

1991 - 58 5-speeds were sold, and 149 automatics were
sold.

1992 - 6 5-speeds were sold, and 5 automatics were
sold.

1993 - 25 5-speeds were sold, and 45 automatics were
sold.

1994 - 170 5-speeds were sold, and 230 automatics were
sold.

So Chris, you have 1 of 11! How cool is that?

it's a lie. We've been over this before. Subaru's numbers are fucked and they have no idea how many of anything was imported. We have or know of more than 11 92 legacy turbos. Sorry dood

OK, DOOD. It's still rare, nonetheless. I'm going to keep believing there were only 11 imported and propagating the myth if indeed that's what it is. So there.

the person who put those numbers up is the guy i bought my car from.

i have no idea where he got them but he would get a kick out of the internet frenzy they have caused.

i would believe it if those were the total numbers sold in whatever reagion MN is in. or in MN itself.

i could even believe that those were the numbers of winestone pearl cars sold.

but i can not believe those are the total numbers for the US from 91-94.

The total number I could believe based solely on the fact that I have seen maybe a total of five of them in person in the six or so years I've had mine. But, if this has been beaten to death on the sube boards, y'all should know more than I do. It's a rare car regardless. If I still owned the car, perhaps I would start with 'rumor has it...'

The numbers I had seen (which still are probably wrong) were more like:

'91 680 5mt and 1,134 4eat

'92 36 5mt and 356 4eat

'93 245 5mt and 987 4eat

'94 485 5mt and 789 4eat

Those aren't the exact numbers I saw but it was something like that. I remember the '92 5mt numbers though because that's what I have, so that one number at least it right on. I still think those numbers are low though but hey, I'd love to believe that I have 1 of 36 cars, that'd be sweet! :D

WE've been over this, but since you're so hellbent on your ignorance, I pose a question:

How MANY (Key: QAUN) automobiles does Ferarri Hand-craft and assemble each year?

None. Ferrari is a high tech mfg facility. Anything greatly hand assembled would be farmed out to another house (Scaglietti or Pininfarina for example). Ferrari builds about 4k cars a year (the 'exclusivity' cap increases all the time). I'm a cynical ex-Ferrari fan.

I've seen dozens of turbo Legacies, nearly bought several, have one in my driveway and the engine from another in my wagon. Those numbers are definitley off, but they're rare cars no matter what, especially for a mass produced car. There probably are even more Ferrari 360s than these cars.

Man, thought I had 1 of 11 there for a second! You just had to go and burst my bubble dintcha? Rats. (not like I'm dissappointed somehow with owning two essesses.)

SO anywho, there's not two essesses in FL just yet, but tomorrow there might be! And they're both on the Orlando/Kissimmee border (since you inquired as to my whereabouts) near where 417 meets OBT/17-92. I regularly head over to the Winter Park/Maitland/Casselberry area to visit friends and such. We should go to the track sometime. I haven't been in a long while.

Exactly. Who cares. Apparently some people here get really bent out of shape about the production numbers. Sorry guys, didn't mean to make you freak out. Hope we can move on. NOW SETTLE DOWN. Thanks.

The important thing is the car is rad. I've owned (and sorta owned - don't ask) a bunch of semi-exotic cars among somewhat mundane cars and the SS fell somewhere in between as some sort of enigma that I grew to love so much that it will always be ranked among one of my top 2-3 favorite cars. That's pretty impressive for an obscure little Japanese car... that I originally bought for my wife

I'm right next door to Winter Park, in College Park. Ya know where Edgewater HS is? I can walk there from my house.

I'm not crazy about drag racing, but I wouldn't mind going just to hang out.

ITS HERE its here its here its here its here

Now, to just find the time to juggle the cars after work so I can get a side-by-side photo of the twins :)

Unfortunately, I didn't want to keep the guy waiting so I didn't get the camera in time to catch the car on his sweet rig... Dodge turbo diesel pickup with a badass 3-car carrier with power winch....

Thanks Dave! I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

suby, no problem. I'm not crazy about drag racing either but I do like to go from time to time in order to get an official timeslip or two when I think I've got something worth timing. I'd much rather road race or rally, but the cops just don't accept that excuse when I engage in said activities on public roads. (well - where the hell else am I supposed to engage in said activities??)

Seems to drive nice... it has some sounds I think I need to look in to, most importantly that left front CV joint you told me about. I definately hear that thing every time I turn left.

Don't worry, she's safe and sound. And her ass is almost touching a Cadillac's:

Edit: What's the switch on the dash for?

Edit 2: Them automatic deathbelts gotta go. I'm spoiled with my Canadian '94's manual seat belts and not getting knocked in the head every time I reach through the window or enter the vehicle

does the switch say "security"? if it does, then it's the stock keyless. Perhaps the fog lights?
