If its an L, forget about the motor, especially if its a single port. Intake and exhaust MIGHT get you 5hp. A pully wont do anything, considering theres a 25 pound flywheel on the other end of the crankshaft.
Id put my money in the suspension, wheels and tires. Its gonna be slow no matter what you put on that motor, but it could be slow quickly arond corners, and be fun!

yeah it is an L so as far as speed goes unless i put a new motor in it which someone will probably tell me is impossible ill just be happy to have a car that runs and is reliable and as far as spending money on the suspension i live in more of the city and plus after my parents bought the car i found out that its one of the few fwd subaru's, anyways thanks for the advicerallitektech wrote:If its an L, forget about the motor, especially if its a single port. Hey man, FWD will be faster than AWD, plus a motor swap might not be that big of a deal, just might cost a bit.
Springs are cheap $200. Then a set of struts, $400 for GR2s?
I see wheel and tire packages for $700.
steering wheel $150, seats $400, exhaust $400, intake $150
Brake pads $100, stainless lines $100.
Then go about the motor. 2.5rs $1000
2.2T $2000
2.0T $3500
2.5T $6000

i wouldnt write off the light pulley totally.
sure, they wont give as much of a benefit as a light flywheel. but for the money and ease of installation i think it is worth it.
i do agree that they will gove no meaningfull HP gain. they will improve throttle response a bit. plus they look cool.
and i did notice a bit of an improvement in throttle response on my FWD 90 when i put a 2.25" catback on it w/two resonators. one in the middle and one at the end.
i do agree that the bulk of your money should be spent on suspension modification. most importantly wheels and tires. if you make it handle well it wont matter how much power you have.
i am a fan of the whiteline anti lift kit. as well as the steering rack bushings they offer.
but this is getting off topic a bit so...
