I don't have any times from stock. The only mods I have done when I had a run at bandamier was a 3inch cat back exaust. Hollowed out down pipe. Manual boost controler set at 11psi and a Saab TMIC. I ran a 16.6 at 82.2 That is the only numbers I have.

Hollowed down pipe? You mean a pipe as large as the turbo outlet and wastegate or running with zero cats?

my best to date is a 13.79 @ 98.6mph, however I have lost the timeslip. so I ran it again on saturday just passed and have some times for you guys.

60ft - 2.037
330ft - 5.796
660ft - 8.917 @ 79.17 MPH
1000ft - 11.571
E.T. 13.839 @ 99.23 MPH at 18 degrees celsius

was done with spike to 14psi tapering off to 12psi by redline (7000 rpm) 3" turbo back exhaust, pod filter, MRT inlet plenum, lightened flywheel, heavy duty clutch (slipping in 1st, hence the bad 60ft time) water/air cooler, STi ratios on 1st and 2nd, VF12 turbo. it was a 7000rpm launch, clutch dump.
MY02 B4 Liberty, 2 1/2" off the primary with splitter, 3" off the secondary, 3" the rest of the way, completely stainless, k&n filter, ECUtek 3, 500HP walbro, 173kw@all4

My dragtimes

Post by jbs_racing »

Hello..

Here in sweden we often do 1/8 mile drags...

My best time is 8.799sec @ 84.64mph

My mods are:

3" turbo-back system with no cat, Pipercross airfilter behind the bumper in right, 24psi of boost, homemade Fuel Cut Defender.

I believe those are all the mods i have done so far.

I´m really sorry about my bad english, i live in Sweden...

RaZor: You do have to take into account that the altitude at bandamier is over 1mile above. The track temp was 92Deg F and when you are stuck in a staging lane for 15minutes the intercooler has no chance of cooling down with no air going over it. Plus it is an auto and I was racing with 3/4 tank of gas. These might be excuses or I may be just a bad driver. I'm not sure if you can be a bad driver when going in a strait line in an auto. I must not be that bad because my reaction time was 0.071.

Ciper. We have 2 cats. One right off the turbo (down pipe) and the other on the next pipe after that (mid pipe). At least that is what I call them.

I have eeked out a 15.82 with just a clutch and 12.8 lb flywheel... and a K&N airfilter. Oh, and running on WRX 16" Rims with balding Re-92's. That's at 1140' above sea level.

Bandimere is almost a 6000 isn't it. It's the raceway up by Morrison isn't it? I haven't been up there yet unfortunately. I prefer to not know what my car would do. Probably much worse than I would have thought. I think my car would die from Oxygen poisoning at sea level. It has never been driven at less that around 4K feet above sea level throughout it's entire 195K mile life span. Some day I'll drive to California and see what it's like to get a good breath of O2. Next week it's going to get to see what 14,110 feet feels like when I drive to the top of Pike's Peak. I'll bring a camera. :D

You'd better bring oxygen tanks for your car driving something naturally aspirated that high in altitude! Or you might want to start injecting nitrous to compensate I guess. And why would you go to California for a "good breath of O2"? You'd get a lungfull of CO and CO2 if it's the same state we are talking about. Come East coast, not that there is anything wrong with the west coast...

My times.
best of 15.916 @ 84.91, 2.1 60 ft
best 60 ft of 2.061 This is with a slow double clutch shift into 2nd (no synchro left) and I'm talking slow.

I have an air-water IC, 10psi on my T-bird compressor hybrid, sti engine mounts, SPEC stage II (full kevlar) clutch and lightened flywheel.
The clutch is great, it has so much feel.
I'm launching a 4500 and just slipping the clutch enough to keep from bogging. And I want to say the 1-2 shift is so sloowwwww. :(

I'm racing real 1/4 mile drags for my first time this saturday and was wondering, can any of you give me any pointers? Should I redline every gear or shift at about 5800 rpm or what? I'm a little worried about staging, is it hard to keep your revs up while staging? Any advice would be cool, thanks

Well the shootout was rained out but there was a good tech talk and parts give away. At the end they let us run 1/8 mile drags in the pouring rain! None of the WRXs could get the power down so guess who was running fastest  I was even faster then the ESX drag car and the Turbo XS car!
It was a lot of fun, next year some of you should really try and make it. Matt from W&L said if we can get enough Legacy turbos there we can have our own class.
Got a voucher for my entry fee and there's a sport compact shootout tomorrow, so I might race because I still don't know any times. So hopefully I will have some 1/4 mile times soon.

The WRXs couldn't hook up, too much wheel spin. I hooked up great probably due to the extra weight and lower power.

Quotes from NASIOC-SHIK

" Anyway, during this time, Beaver Bob asked Ali if he though he could run a 12 in the rain!?! Was he serious!!! They agree and Beaver Bob makes the announcement. Meanwhile someone yells "can we run too?" Beaver Bob looks at us, thinks to himself and says "track open for anyone" but they could only time in the 1/8th mile due to the rain, and even that wasn't working to well. Incredibly the lanes filled! For the next 45 minutes the lanes remained filled as just about everyone there went out for their freebie water runs. It was hilarious and entertaing...and unbelievable. If the WRC team ever needs another driver, they should look no further to Phil at TXS as his sideway antics would have made any rally driver proud. Ali and EasyStreet were able to click off a 16 second pass in the pouring rain(got the clocks working briefly). To see their car staged, nitrous purging out the front of the car like a dragon, in the pouring rain was insane, but they did it. Actually I think the Grind's Mike Vogel made that pass! But it was great either way. It really was like ice out there. I was wild though because you can actually see the front wheels spinning and then slow as the back wheels sped up and tried to find traction. Would have been a great Subaru commercial!

Quickest(looking) time-probably the white 92 Legacy turbo. That thing hooked like it was bone dry outside and just ripped. To see an 84 Turbo Wagon beating an '02 WRX the first hundred feet was nuts, and may never been seen again. "

padrewrx-

" little before 2pm as it continued to rain steadily, they called off the race, so they did the raffle thing with all the goodies from the vendors. I got a t-shirt for coming the farthest (from Georgia). So when I got to the tower, I said to Beaver Bob, "how bout we do that 'track-drying' thing so everyone can get on the track once and we can have a cool video of a parade of Subies." Well Bob did me one better, he took the mic and said, "alright folks, here's what we're going to do: heads-up 1/8th mile racing."

So we all lined up and raced in the rain. It was the funnest time I've had in a long time. No one could hook-up, everyone was fishtailing, and a Legacy was running the fastest. ESX ran a 16 something in the 1/4 (only one set of timers was running and they let him run first)."

Sunday at the sport compact shootout they made us run 1/8 mile again because all the rain screwed up one of the 1/4 mile sensors. The track was dry though, so no excuses for the wrxs. My first 2 runs were against a moded wrx. He was just barely beating me.

These are on a pro 500 tree
Me- ....................him-
r/t .962 ................. .750
60' 2.45 ................ 2.76
330' 6.97 ............... 6.99
1/8 10.73 .............. 10.36
mph 66.04 ............ 72.88

the next run was about the same. we both had worse r/t
me- 1/8 11.07 ........ him- 1/8 10.93
....... mph 65.54 ............. mph 70.47
He really pulled on me out to the 1/4 though probably beating me by 2 sec.
no times on the 1/4 though.
then I raced a stock wrx

Me- ..................him-
r/t 1.04 ............ 1.31
60' 2.36 ........... 2.70
330' 6.96 ......... 7.15
1/8 10.74 ....... 10.71
mph 63.85 ....... 68.92

I was 1st across the line on that one. I beat that same rex in the first round of bracket racing, then lost to a civic in the 2nd.

I don't know if my launch technique is real good or if the Legacy turbo's just better down low ( probably the later) but the stock wrx was only beating me by a sec. or less at the 1/4. The pro 500 tree was giving everyone problems, it's tough i never did get a very good r/t. It was a fun weekend! Long reply, sorry.
