California Emissions

Post by rightandtight »

My car is in Maryland right now, but I'm moving it to California in October. I'll be installing a catless 3" exhaust with resonator and muffler.

I need to know if this will pass CA emissions. Has anyone run a similar setup? and on a side note--do you blow out any flames ?

Thanks for any input,

Willie

You can whip up a test pipe, but I'd talk to azn2nr about running catless and passing emissions, although he does live in SLC Utah. You can also run that 'PASS' stuff, or Isopropyl alcohol. Some of the turbo guys might know more about it, though.
Yes, on catless turbo, you can shoot flames...

Just stick a high flow cat in there and be done with it.

Theoretically you shouldn't be able to pass smog without a cat, but it greatly depends on who tests you. If they look for a cat and you don't have one you're done. If they don't look then you can get away if its clean enough. I'd just put the cat on. It takes away like 3-5 hp max. And it's not good to continue polluting the environment like that. (not that I haven't ever done it briefly :))
