Pictures of the PCV hoses
I'm pretty sure I'm missing some of the PCV hoses. I have the diagram from the FSM, however there's one hose I'm not sure exactly which one it is.
Does anyone have any pics of the PCV hoses?
TIA

I've got the same diagram, I'm still not sure though.vrg3 wrote:I have a pretty good diagram on the same page as my vacuum diagram:

I can take pictures of the hoses in question and post. Maybe I'm just missing it.

nico, the only thing that not having the PCV system routed through your intake will do is keep oil vappor out of there. some vacuum is probaly good for the system. on really built v8's, they sometimes run a engine driven vacuum pump to the crankcase which gains several hp having a low pressure in the crankcase. Im pretty sure its because the lower pressure helps the rings seal better. but it may be a moot point with the amount of intake vacuum the legacy pcv system sees. why not just leave it stock?
sorry for the highjack, but anyone know a reason to vent the PCV system to the atmosphere rather than the intake other tahn keeping oil crap out of there?

I know they are not complete. I have an idea which is which, but it'd be nice to either get confirmation on what's what, or see a real picture.

Thanks Vikash
I looked at things closer. Everything was dead on except this guy.
http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8 ... P_4836.JPG
It's #8
#10 was still on the manifold
I've got one piece that I don't know what it is. I don't know if it was something a previous owner fudged to work, or if it's #17
I'll have to post a pic of later.

I'm pretty sure that, that little guy there looks like that. It goes into the 90 degree boot that attaches to the compressor inlet and the intake resinator on the intake tract (or the mug if you are mugged).
IIRC, it goes on the side nearest to the firewall and turbo. Then I think it connects to the PCV 'F' pipe (i think that's what it is?). Then the 'F' pipe connects to that big large metal piece comming out of the block itself.
EDIT: I got around to looking at #17, and infact that is the little piece. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback.
Any idea why in the hell it is shaped like it is?
Does the half cut side go into the intake track? I would assume so, but just want to double check.

the side that is cut funny goes inside the boot B cut side facing down.
how the pcv system works thread is a good read on all that goodness.
in the diagram its number 17 connected to number 2.

note that i dont have an f piece but thats where it goes

Cool!
Thanks guys. It just looks like I need to buy the plastic piece that runs under the manifold, since it's busted, and some various clips.

Cool. You should be able to fairly easily fabricate a replacement for that piece out of some copper pipe and a copper pipe tee fitting. It'll last longer than the original plastic piece, too!

Or you can do like my dad did with #1, and 17 when we took off our manifold and Dremal it smooth and JB Weld it back together. Looked fine and the car hasnt eaten it yet so i gusse it works but then again ive only been driveing on it like that for a couple of days now.
