best way to drain old gas?

Im just about ready to fire my new motor(22E heads on 2.5 block) and I need to do it with good gas, not the 2 month old 87 octane thats in there now.
are those 2 bolts on the bottom of the gas tank that look like drain plugs actually drain plugs? if they are that will be the best way to do it, but dealing with so many broken bolts has made me cautious to try and loosen stuff I dont have to.
I have heard you can clear the tank out with the fuel pump, but am not sure how to do this. would I disconnect the coil pack, route the fuel line into a can and turn the ignition on to start the fuel pump? this sounds nice and easy but maybe it wont get all the gas out. opinions please.

I think you could do it with the pump, yeah. You could disconnect the feed line from the fuel filter and use a 5/16" hose joiner and some 5/16" fuel hose (it doesn't have to be EFI hose for this purpose) to redirect it into a fuel container.

Then you'd put the ECU into test mode (connect the green connectors) and leave the ignition in the ON position. The ECU would pulse the pump on and off repeatedly, eventually emptying the tank.

You could just siphon it out. It would be a lot easier then trying to rig up the pump.

There are drain plugs in the gas tank on the bottom in which you can drain the gas out.

90-91 have drain plugs 92-94 don't

well, theres no seal. its just a bolt. :? not even a crush washer.

yep just a bolt(s) no washer from the factory. and now my 93(had a wierd hole) has a 91 tank, i just swapeded them this weekend... drain plugs are nice.

(i pooked 2 holes in mine old to get the gas out)

Bolts don't usually seal on their own... I'd stick a crush washer on there to seal it when reinstalling it.
