tuck and roll!

Post by Suzie-Q »

i'm lowering my car a few inches and i want 16 inch rims and low-pros. i'm planning on rolling the fenders so i can tuck my tires in, and i've seen many suggestions for offsets. With a 16 inch rim, for example 7 inches wide, would 45 mm be enough? or should i go to 48mm? a little bit of scraping won't bother me but i don't want my tires to be bare on the edges after 2 months. any suggestions?

ok, here is a suggestion: get rims that fit a WRX. Or even late RS/WRX rims themselves.

That way they are 16 inch and have the correct off-set, and you won't need to roll anything.

I've got 16x7 rims that are +45mm offset. I had issues with rubbing in the rear originally. I don't know if that was due to the FWD suspension or the fact that it just rubbed.

You'd be safer with more offset.

Lowering your car will have no effect on what rim/tire package you can stuff under there.

the difference between 45 and 48mm is... 3mm. How much of a difference do you think it will make?

You should post a pic of the rims youre thinking of for the amusement of the peanut gallery!

i know 3mm isn't that much, but it's the difference between slight and moderate rubbing, which could make a difference of a few months on the wear on my tires. I don't have a pic of the rims and tires i want unless you want me to do separate pictures. i intend to buy them separately and have them mounted when i get them, so i can't get a pic of the tires on the rims.
