My sister ... while drunk .... decided she needed to get a burger at 5 in the morning ..... while drunk. Goes into my room while I'm sleeping, steals my keys and walet and takes off. I get a phone call at 6 this morning from SAPD saying the car has been wrecked, along with the other 4 parked cars she hit. She is in jail right now and I'm trying to price some parts. I'll have pics of the damage later today. In the mean time, I'm getting some sleep. :(

Well .... either could she. :( Insurance company just came by and say it may not be bad enough to be totalled. :D

You WANT it to be totalled, then you get money and buy the car back for 500$.

Nasty - sorry to hear about the whole situation. On the bright side tho', you seem to have some options about what to do next - get your car repaired paid for by the insurance, get it totalled then buy it back and fix it yourself or take the cash and get another one! Either way you end up with a decent Legacy!

I think you should keep track of every single penny spent, and how much time you spend when fixing it and then sue your sister for the money + your hourly rate at your current job.

^LOL. But seriously, that really sucks. I would kick my sister's ass if she ever did anything like that. It sounds like a sister thing to do

Im not joking, sometimes the only way to teach a friend/family is to treat them as you would a stanger and not cut them any slack. Otherwise you set yourself up to be in the same situation later on.

I knew you were serious Ciper  It's a crappy situation and it sounds like she's already going to be in a world of hurt. Good luck!

Thanks for the positive outlook on everything guys. I'm a die hard rotary fan ..... but when I saw the Legacy up on the flatbed and all the damage done to it ... I just lost it. Cried when I totalled my first 7 .... and my first suby. :( Even though it wasn't my fault ... I feel so bad for the others that she hit. This car was so much fun and unlike any other car I've driven. Sorry to rant ... just all these balled up frustrations. :(

The damage is severe to the front passenger suspension/steering/CV joints. The hit was so hard that the wheel was stuffed into the wheel well and came up slightly through the passenger floorboard. Had there been a passenger, they would have had their legs broken. I was unable to take pictures due to the fact it was my one year and six month anniversary with my girlfriend. I needed to get away, and that was the perfect way. :(

My insurance company is going to be bringing it to a body shop to get a full estimate and then I will be going from there. I don't want to get rid of her, she's been too good!

As far as my sister .... I'm too pissed ... I'll talk about it later. Too everyone a good night, and drive safely!

Weird - I saw a red wagon in the junkyard with what sounds like the exact same damage. The heater was even pushed out the glovebox and it was resting on its ripped-off L-arm and wheel. Wasn't even my car and I thought that was a horrible thing to see. I walked away from it quick after checking for an LSD. Maybe you could find an N/A cheap and do a swap?

Idiots keep asking me why I don't just buy a new car. At the rate of attrition these cars suffer, mine will be rarer than a Bizzarrini when I'm done.

I also saw a car with the same damage in the junk yard with Eastbaysubaru. The wheel was so far inside that the lower dash had exploded.

Yeah .... sounds like my car. Unfortunately, since I keep everything under my moms name (for insurance purposes,) I can't press charges against my sister. But I am trying to convince my mom to press charges. Tomorrow ... title for the FD goes back into my name, along with the Subaru even though the damage is done. Car gets picked up to go to the shop to finish the estimate. I don't want to let a rare car get more rare. :(

I wouldnt fix it. Id buy it back to get the engine and such then find a cheap legacy to swap it into. I got a 91 LSI in decent condition (VERY DIRTY and minor front end damage) for 700 dollars.
