So far no one has mentioned results from using this turbo. I know that there are at least two on this board that have this turbo and at least one of them has it on his car, but I haven't seen him in a few weeks. I'm curious how this turbo feels.

Hardy, you need to update your sig now that you have more miles on your car and a 'rare' LS turbo.THAWA wrote:which RHB5's have you taken apart?-K- wrote:I think the turbine wheel is the same on all the RHB5's, so far all I take apart are.

Actually the mileage only just changed last week or so. Can't put many miles on a car when it sits for months

This may be the first post about how the turbo feels but mine is on a 2.0 liter so it may not be usefull.
from idle to about 3000-3500 the car pulls kinda slow but after that it pulls like a rocket.
it holds 15psi to 7000rpm

Thanks for the update Napphappy. I just talked to someone else on the board who I believe is running it on a 2.0 as well. He said he gets 16psi at 3200 rpm. I'm wondering if I'd see a quicker spool than that being that I have higher displacement. I guess there is only one way to find out.

This turbo came on the overseas models on the manual engines. From browsing the liberty forums it sounds like these came on the UK and Japanese models, while the liberty 5spds got the vf12 which is almost identical, but was ballbearing.
The vf8 is a slight step down from the TD05. The liberty guys that have run both say they see a marginal improvement with a TD05, but things are pretty comparable.
The ex housing is a lot larger on this one than it is on the vf11. The vf11 has a 15-R exhaust housing and the vf8 has a 20-R.
Everything is bolt on, and if you have an intercooler like an AWIC or a wrx or some other top mount, the turbo will connect right up to the intercooler.
It gets up and goes. Lag is marginally less than the TD05 I think. I was able to get full boost (at 15psi) in 5th gear by 2800 rpms.

i got a turbo that came off a 1.8l xt subaru turbo and if i put my vf11 beside this turbo and you look at the ex wheels its so much bigger, the front fans are all most the same size. i would have put that turbo on my car but the up pipe and the rear of the turbo are so diffrent. but if i boer my vf11 and stick that fan in and keep the t-bird set up i think i would be on to something.
or dont waste time and just go get the tdo5h-16g from dead bolt like im in the process right now.

You could do all that stuff to your vf11, but I'd just go with the TD05
