Holset HY30 or HX35. They use the Garrett flange so you would need to do some exhaust work.

Best bang for the buck turbo out there right now but the word is getting around and the price is going up some.

no I'm still a little new here but are there management options and injectors out there to support a turbo that large? a hx35w is a large turbo wich flows 55lb/min. the hy30w flows in the neighborhood of 35-40lb min. don't have that one memorized. also the hx35w has a 12cm housing which would be no fun to spool on a subaru. the HY35w has a 9cm housing and isn't a divided housing like the hx. it still flows 55lb/min. but I think the holsets are a little large unless he want's to make 350+hp. a 16g or t3 60 trim would be more ideal. they both flow about 34lb/min and the 16g as we know is a direct bolt on. I plan on making a up pipe and attempting to install a garrett t3 60trim more or less to see if I can do it. for me it would be a very cost effective solution seeing as how I have a few of them. and if it works I would open options for any turbo I would desire. well almost.

He wants stupid power I bet and I think he is getting a Greddy Emanage and STi injectors.

I have driven a 2.3 Ford with a HX35 and it was OK. I wouldn't run it at less than 20psi. It's a twin scroll so if you made a Header with a twin scroll up pipe it would spool up better.
The HY30 would make a better street turbo and would be my first choice for a BIG turbo.

The Holset quality and design are far better than Garrett T series.

I don't think many people would need more than a 16g and it bolts to the up/down pipes so it's a good choice if you don't need stupid power.

ok I see. didn't know his goals. so you drove a 2.3t with a holset. was that reeve's capri? I actually have his milled housing for my hx35w. I'm also a turboford nut. thats my real pride and joy. the leggy is just for fun. I agree with you on the quality of the holsets there a very nice turbo.

hx35y with a bullseye exhaust housing for the 2.2 would be the best bet. its a little smaller so it spools better. the standard housing on a 2.4 axis motor with an auto at 5k stall rpm's is breathtaking. external wastegate probaly best. tial 48mm or larger unless you want to bring the noise

here is what i got a tdo4l from a wrk and a vf30 from a sti, also i have some garret turbos that i think came off a GN turbo 60 a/f they say. i have 600 canadian to work with

thawa 350 sounds just about right, i do have my turbo legacy set in a 95 subaru impreza L sedan, with no power nothing its about 600 700 lbs less then my turbo legacy ways. i raced a 11 sec neon on the streets a month ago and did he ever see STARS ding ding

I'd use the VF30 and see if it has enough for you. You won't have to mess with the exhaust so big plus there and it should be a good bit better than the VF11.

gt350, yup Reeve's Capri. That thing is a monster when the boost comes on. I should have guessed you were a 2.3 guy, nobody else seems to know about them Holsets.

azn2nr, good point about the external gate, forgot that part. I don't think anyone is set up to run stock wastgate boost on a Holset here.

yeah, trying to tune a holset at wastegate boost (20psi) right off the bat would be a bit risky.

Well, it's not even clear that the Holset's internal wastegate would be up to the task of regulating boost on a spark-ignition engine...

You might consider buying one from Deadbolt:

http://www.deadboltspeed.com/

If you ask nicely you could probably get them to weld an inlet elbow on, and maybe reclock it too, to make it close to a drop-in replacement.

ya vrg3 that would be perfect i would need to clock it becuse the way i have the front mount set up, and then you need that dame 90 on there.

WHY SUBARU have you made it so hard to upgrade my turbo for a motor that does not want to BLOW APART.

Why are you downgrading to a 16g? If your turbo is making 350whp this would be worse.
