Anybody here running colder plugs?

Post by legacy92ej22t »

As in the NGK BKR7E-11? I was wondering how they worked out.

I picked a set of them, and a set of standard BKR6E-11, up and am trying to decide which to run for the shootout.

How do the BKR6Es look when you pull them out for a tuneup?

I remember Jason saying he used 7s but changed them very often.

I haven't ever changed the plugs yet on the BJ engine (I put new ones in for the swap though of course).

I guess I can decide once I've seen them but on my OEM engine they always looked pretty good, except after #4 let go.

I just didn't know what the concensus was, if they're a good idea once modded like I am or not.

I'm all for testing them out and seeing if they perform any better but without knowing before hand, I'm not sure I want to put them in for the shootout.

I have run the colder plugs but really cannot give any answer whether or not they helped. My engines blew up anyway.

You don't need to be running colder plugs unless you're torching electrodes on the plugs from them getting too hot.

Unless you're running MAD boost, I wouldn't even suggest switching to a colder plug.

You can try them, but you'll find you'll probably have less power, and worse mileage.

Ya, I did the plugs today and the 6Es (oem range) looked absolutely perfect, so I just put another set of those in. They looked so good I'm probably just going to return the 7Es.
