Internal baffles in the oil pan?

Internal baffles in the oil pan?
I heard a rumor that the oil pan is seriously baffled. If anyone has a pic of the inside of the oil pan i would love to see it.

That is a pic of the newer style oil pan. The older pans did not have that lower baffle.
As for, are baffles a good thing, yes they are a good thing. They help keep the oil from sloshing around as much, plus I would assume the lower baffle helps against foaming/cavitation. if you have oil drop/drip from above, it can create air bubbles. That second tray may help provide a "bubble free" area below that the oil pickup tube can suck on.

The baffle could spread heat around a little.
Seen the comments on the 90 and 91 , but what does
the 93 turbo have by way of baffles in the sump???

The 93' NA doesn't have the second baffle. Other than not having the lower baffle, exactly the same. Today when I pulled it off my batteries were dead on the camera, sorry. What's interesting is that the oilpan I pulled off the 'new' engine had an oil pan as shown above.

My 90 has the lower baffle. Made it a pain in the ass to clean out when I welded by turbo oil return to the pan. Also made it impossable to bang out after I gave it a good crunch launching the scoob a few feet in the air over a ditchLegacy777 wrote:That is a pic of the newer style oil pan. Not sure what to tell ya. The engine I have is a 94. Unless someone swapped oil pans, it did not come with the lower baffle.
