I swear i will never drive any other car during the winter season LoL. Bear with me im pretty new to subaru. Last week i bought a package deal,03 wrx engine with x member, a 5spd rs tranny. no ecu, no harness. ive been looking for any help i can get. help seems to hard to find. if anyone can give me a how to, or what i will need to complet my swap. if it possible at all. thanks alot guys for all your help.

well for starters sounds like you need a wiring digram and a wire harness and aobut 50 hours of your spare time to tear it apart and separate the stuff you dont need. but oyu will also need the clutch kit for a 2.5RS with a really good presure plate and a decent clutch. i dont know what the ratio for the RS tranny is but im pretty sure its 4.11, i think your 1991 legacy might have a 3.90 gear ratio for you rear end, you might need some driveline components if your going form AT to MT, the drivelines are different lengths. depending on if your rear diff ratio is 4.11 or not will determine if you need a 4.11 reaer diff for this swap or not, go search on nasioc.com, they have a how-to thread stickied for this very swap.

good luck and happy searching,

The tranny is a direct replacement. But, you will need a 5spd center driveshaft to put the tranny in.

To put that engine in there and make it run properly, you will want to find a WRX ECU and wiring harness.

The other things you will want to get, if they didn't come with the engine are:

Boost solenoid assembly from firewall
MAF and air box

Then it is down to business with the wiring.

Now the other route you could go is put that engine in and use something like an E-manage to run it. You will need to use your engine wiring harness as well as coil and ignitor. It can be done, but it will never run quite as well as stock and you will fight with tuning it for months...

speaking of wireing diagrams, anyone have one showing which two wires you have to switch on the ecu plug for a ej22 to ej22t swap? also on diagrams, how 'bout one showing the connections for the wastegate solenoid?

didn't mean to jackle your thread, but this info will help both you and me :D

Do you have a MT tranny crossmember?

Also, you will need to shim the A-arm bushings in the WRX crossmember.

Here's my write-up on my swap. It may provide some help www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/swap

Also, check out the stuff you need to know forum, there's a thread in there that has info on d/l the engine & electrical portion for the 92 factory manuals (which should be similar enough to your 91)

Psychoreo, check out stuff you need to know forum for fsm's. The two wires are cam & crank signals. For more info, search the electrical forum I think.
