MBC and Exhaust Question

Post by RS_subi »

Hi guys,
I've been searching through the forum and am really glad with the things i learn from many of you..
I currently own a Legacy rs 89'. I was thinking of fitting a MBC, but on stock exhaust (i think it's 2.5") and was wondering whether i should fit the MBC now, or wait to upgrade the exhaust from turbo and then fit the MBC.
If any other mods concerning this are appropriate please suggest them..

Thanks.
Chris.

don't quote me but no subaru has a 2.5" stock exhaust. An MBC is a good way to go though, upgrading the exhaust as well as adding an intercooler should also be on your to do list.

Thanks for the reply.
My RS has a stock TMIC so i'm ok there. I just read a post about the RS and WRX's exhausts. It turns out that it's best to go for a turbo back system with a WRX muffler on a RS.
I would still be interested in your opinions toward my question though. Don't have the money for the above mods yet.
Thanks

well you can get a turbo back fabbed up reasonably cheap, check the exhaust forum for the thread, they usually aren't too bad. For the stock turbo, i'd recommend 2 1/4 - 2 1/2. Some people sware on 3" but it usually sounds ricey. even on larger turbo's 2 1/2" should do nicely. Since you already have a stock IC, you can get an MBC for like $45. do a quick search and you will see.
