ok so putting 1.8 NA heads on a 2.2 NA motor will give you 11 to 1 compression.
just wondering if you can just swap the cams. would be nice to have roller rockers on my 2.2na but i dont want the extra comp as id like to run reg gas.
anyone have exp with this tryed a search but couldnt find much.

You cannot swap just the cams, but the whole assembly can actually be used. You use the cams, and the roller rockers from the 1.8l. 8 bolts per head, and they are in there.
As for the other, I wouldn't put those heads on a 2.2l. Guys have done it, but without a agressive cam, you aren't able to take advantage of the CR. And the ports on the 1.8l heads are significantly smaller and won't flow anywhere near as well as the 2.2l heads...

Re: ?
the ej series motors all use the same main crank pulley. i suggest avoiding the underdrive pulley though and getting a stock diameter pulley that is made of a lighter material. unorthodox has one so does perrin sand go fast bits. you can get them from www.boxer4racing.com .Tailgatewagon wrote:Sweet so i can put the roller cams on the 2.2 heads. thats awsome info.

Greg,
The whole harmonic balancer rumour has been shown to be an internet myth. Joel Gatt who wrenches for Gary Sheehan ran some tests on them at one point. There is no empirical reason not to use an underiven pulley. I have run one on my 2.5RS for well over 100k mi...

i was refering to how the underdrive pulleys can slow the alternator and powersteering pumps down. i agree that the harmonics stuff is bull. i have a stock diameter perrin lightweight pulley waiting to be put onto my SS. its been in the box for over a year now.Matt Monson wrote:Greg,

ya man, check out ebay, i got my perrin lightweight pulley for $116 shipped. as far as that hybrid, find yourself a used EJ25 shortblock and throw the EJ22 heads on it instead, get your cams reground by delta cams, and have fun.........thats my plan, just waiting on gaskets and seals.

the light pull dont work on my motor, it makes my car feel like the timeing is out of wack. i think it has to do with not running power steering or a/c. one belt to alternater an cranck.
