It's turbo. All turbo 2.2 blocks are closed deck.

so how much boost can they take, or are our pistons or valves the weak links in this?

like on a turbo 91 legacy if the bore is closed then that means it can handle lots of boost, well more than a open bore at least, i just want to knnow the max boost the stocker can handle without blowing up, or becoming un reliable or dangerous

The terminology is not closed or open bore. Closed or open deck is the correct terminology.

In stock form, the turbo is your limiting factor. It will run out of steam before you'll blow the engine. With an intercooler I think guys are running 16 psi. Much more then that, it's not worth it....the turbo can't keep up.

With a larger turbo more is certainly possible. There are race guys running 30 psi on these blocks.....so it's not an issue of whether or not the block can take the boost, it's are you going to spend the money for a turbo, injectors, engine management, etc to do things right.
