TRUE! I've been looking at the possibilities of this since you started all this rigamaroll.. I LIKE IT!

I've already got lights picked out, too.

...although I'm thinking custom wrap-around bracket, so it takes the corner lights, too...

what do you think?

I'd like to do a sidemarker blend myself and am looking into how to do it if I decide to paint the lenses Morette-style (as well as blend in some 'tunnels' leading to the lamps as in the last Integra/Alfa GTV). My side markers are all messed up from the damn top bracket breaking with age. I'd love to eliminate the standard deal altogether and blend in a piece or two of acrylic about 1/2-3/4" high 'streaking' horizontally from the headlights and illuminated using their fiberoptic effect. The problem, besides all the damn work, would be that they wouldn't work as well, though I'm not sure how well they have to work as sidemarkers aren't meant to see by, but merely to be seen.

An update from me:

I just baked and pulled apart the lenses from the reflector housings on the post-face lights. Borked one reflector in the process, but I'm not entirely sure I'll need it anyway, but we'll see. I've got some pencil beams, and some broad beams that I'd like to integrate, as well as make the lights assymetrical. I want more light off to the non-oncoming traffic side, which would be connected via a switch, in addition to the main lamps (hellas FF50s(?)) that would be my headlights.

I gotta find a way to mount those things in and drill correctly for it. Also, I want to be running some thick-ass wires, too, just to clear the voltage drop I'm sure I'll have.

Just wondering, Steve, if you're able to post pics of low and high beams lighting up the road? We'd all love to see them.

The car is immobile in the garage. I'm putting the original de-fluted lenses back in, I think, and remounting them so that they can be better adjusted and look properly lined up.

This is it. Before the lenses were replaced with clear, but close enough for a long time. The housings are also not lined up perfectly to the bodywork (they're a little low) due to restrictions in my hybrid mounting system. If I ever put the car back together, that will be corrected and the bumper lifted a little as well to match the OEM placement (slammed too many snowbanks).

UPDATE: Old links are dead. This is the finished product with new polycarbonate welded in place of the old lens (complete with dust on the inside of the lens).

No.

This is the best I have—picture from before the clear lenses were welded in place.

Comparable to the standard projectors on my Mazda3, so very clearly much better than the originals.

Nice. Looking at the lighting of my Legacy compared to my RS it's the difference between crap and chocolate.
I did, however, find 2 hella 500FF's and 2 FF1000's, an extra light housing, 2 stone shields and 3 clear shields for $70 so those'll be going on the car soon. That should help...when no one else is around at least. Gonna any daytime pics of the finished product on the car?

These are the best I have. Those are actually the lenses I sanded the flutes out of, so they're a little cloudy, but you get the idea. They're also not lined up quite right (it also doesn't help that the bumper sat a little low towards the front from ramming things). If things go well, and I need to get this car out of the way so I can build a wood kayak and a rehab transportation prototype, I'll have final pictures of them installed this fall.

Hey Steve, I just wondered if you ever got to complete your 90 mm Hella conversion project? If you did, any pics that you can post for us to feast on? :D

No progress. I bought a wood kayak already built for kit price and my rehab trike idea has already been patented by some d-bag that I can't find him actually building a prototype for, so I have little incentive to move the car. First priority is to replace the quarter panels this spring and that's the real thing that's kept me putting off finishing the car. Headlights, however, will probably be the last thing to get it on the road.

So, one housing is done and the second 95%, and I want to figure out a way to mount them that lines up perfect—I don't want these to look like they were made by APC (are they even still in business?).
