Spark does that much!?

Post by Manarius »

I just put in a Diamond Coil Pack and new plug wires (cheap OEM style). My gas mileage shot up 4-5 mpg! Is this normal? Or is it just a fluke.

Info:

Put in 8.7 gal on 198 miles. ~ 22.75 mpg (23).

I even drove like a maniac (running up near 5.5k regularly) a few of those days. I usually get around 19-21...

my wagon runs rich especially at idle, so do you think a fresh diamond coil pack would burn it up better and thus reduce emissions while getting better mileage...??

a fluke unless soemthing was really wrong before

my gas mileage went up a couple MPG when I first got my car due to the full maintenance routine, of which changing the old, old plugs was probably the largest gain, and changing the oil maybe a good bit of it also

round tires helped also, cars don't roll well on eggs

if the old stuff was really tired that's entirely possable. especialy plugs. the old ones would have to be very visible worn in order to make that kinda difference. that or they were gapped wrong.
