How much work is this? Do I need to swap the transmission too?

Your title is confusing as hell. Can you clarify what you are looking to do so i don't type a long reply guessing what you are doing?

Let's just answer his question in general terms. It looks like he's going to replace an EJ22 with an EJ20.
Knowing what we do about Subarus, let's let him in on the legos secret.

Any Subaru EJ engine will bolt up correctly to any tranny that would normally accompany an EJ engine, no matter the model.

Your only worry should be OBDI and OBDII.

I thought there was a difference between Turbo and N/A trannies ??

As in the Turbo being the strongest made...

same shaft?

For ATs and MTs, shafts are the same, being that in AT, the driveshafts are shorter, due to the entended length of the AT tailhousing. He's talking about motor swaps, I don't want to feed him too much at once, and tranny info, in particular, unless he needs it, in which case, I hope he starts the appropriate thread.

Sorry for the bad subject in my first post. What I meant to say was how much work it is to swap a 2.2 to a 2.0 turbo. Need to know what other parts except the engine that needs to be changed..
