Splash guards?

Post by legacy92ej22t »

I had a local brake shop tell me to remove my splash gaurds for better venting, which I did.My friend did the same thing and when he had his car at a different shop recently they gave him a really hard time about it.So what do you guys think? Is it ok to do or not?I did it for better ventilation and wieght reduction, even though they are very light.Let me know what you think, thanks

sounds like a load of crap for me. For brake cooling, you could build something like this: http://www.bimmerworld.com/e30_installation.htm

I'll find more pics later.

Subaru had a reason to pay to put them on every single vehicle like that. It's not hurting, your just opening yourself to doing more harm.

As a side note, you should remove them if you ever go driving in sand. If you don't, the sand piles up in front of them until there's enough of it to tear your rear bumper off.

Ya,I went back to the same shop today that told me to do it and actually talked to the guy that does most of the subaru work there and he said they should be put back on and would talk to the guy that told me to remove them! The only problem is i was too lazy to remove the second one correctly and cut it off around the abs sensor  I'll have to pick up an old one now to reinstall. Oh well. Thanks
