Where can I buy a Power antenna mast? 93 legacy sport sedan

Post by kip »

I drove through the carwash with the radio on. I am an idiot.

I remember buying a mast by itself at some point in the past, but now Subaru will only sell me a complete power antenna kit ($100+). Kragen doesn't seem to know anything either. Does anyone have a part#/Vendor for the antenna mast for a power system?

Thanks

I'm not sure if there's any junkyards where you're at, but that would be the first place I'd check. I'm in the same boat as you, but I don't listen to the radio except for the ballgames. So yeah, if possible check out some junkyards. Otherwise you could call the Subaru guys in Rancho Cordova. They've got all sorts of parts that they've pulled from various Suby's.

Guys, I know this is REALLY sad  but my Legacy wagon/estate came without the mast as it had been snapped off so many times that the previous owner just played tapes.

On the first decent trip I remembered that there was no mast and so grabbed the old favourite wire coathanger replacement. 3000 miles later the same coathanger has now been painted black to match the window pillar and is still providing sterling service! I pick up all the stations that I want and it cost me zip/nada/nothing. I know it isn't that cool, but with a decent bit of straightening and the coat of paint it doesn't look like a coathanger at all. :D

PS and it doesn't matter if you forget to lower it when going through a carwash! :D

You can get just the mast for something like $60 at the dealership, or at least that is what the parts guy was telling me...

Where can I get one, and how much are they? I have been thinking about doing one like that, but the quality antennas like those are sometimes hard to find, and very expensive :(

you could pull one off of a s2000.....

Dunno about quality antennas, I know that Schucks and Pep Boys and Autozone and places such as that carry them. I'll do some looking around and get back with you on that.
