MAP informatin???

Post by andys2 »

My pressure exchange valve is broken. So I can have either atmospheric or MAP pressure on the pressure transducer. I have tried this both ways…with 100% waste gate auction (direct pressure -6PSI max) and no pressure (~10 PSI under hard acceleration in the higher gears and spool up greater than 15 when rolling onto it slowly at ~4K. I don’t want to go over 15. With no atmospheric fed into the sensor it runs fine but I have no fuel cut. With MAP fed into the sensor I get the same running but this time I experience the fuel cut.

It’s my understanding that the MAP info is used for boost control only and not fuel enrichment. Doesn’t anyone know anything for sure on this matter??

I am wondering if I can install a boost controller, set it for 16 and leave the MAP sensor at atmospheric? This way I can avoid the fuel cut? I know the safe advice is to connect and “fool” it but does anyone really know if there is any fuel enrichment or timing adjust based on MAP? My ECU is a 92 JDM legacy turbo BTW.

I don't know the answer to your question, but in case you didn't realize, you can use almost any 3-way automotive solenoid valve in place of the stock pressure exchange solenoid.
