bugeye, newstyle, or 06- WRX?

Post by dscoobydoo »

what do you think?

I am kind-of looking at the rex's and am having difficulty choosing.

I like the dark blue pearl of the bugeye styles paint color wise, but the newer ones have the 2.5( which I prefer engine wise. I prefer the newer rear end 04-on. But then again price is a factor also.

or I could wait a few years and get a used 04 STI.

Hmmmm

I like the '05 STI's. The Bug Eyes are lame, and the new grille is retarded.

I think the bugeye WRXs never came in dark blue, just WRB.

I for some reason think I remember seeing a bugeye WRX in BRP (Blue Ridge Pearl, the dark blue), but I could be wrong.

Don't buy an 06 Impreza. Please let that model flop miserably so Subaru will wake up and change it back.

the bugeyes have grown on me. especially because you can get a decent one for under 15,000 now. and often find them for around 13. they are a bit lighter.

Don't forget that the 06 WRX models have the EJ257, or whatever they're calling it. If you can get an 04 STI, that'd probably be my choice. Many more wheel options, and it should be a few bucks cheaper. Besides, those updated headlights look very similar to the BE/BL models, which is a very handsome look.

the 04 and 05s had the EJ257 also, didn't they???

But I agree, the choices on rims and stuff are nicer. Just need some aftermarket support to fix that grille ;)

too bad...wait...a WRX tranny is going to handle the EJ257 power??? That's gonna be a stretch. Or are we looking at nicer 5MTs??

They're EJ257's, but not with STi horsepower. 06 WRX's and Forester XT's, have 230hp, and the Legacy GT has 250hp.

ahhh, so basically, they're making the same horsepower, but I bet the WRX is going to be more of a torque monster than the old one.

Can you get them with the twin turbo and the SC??

I just thought of a mean trick to play on someone. Wouldn't it be funny if somone hooked up a BOV to an airhorn placed under the hood. LOL!!!!

I would imagine that the new WRX models will that the same updated and beefier trans that the Legacy GT and Forester have.

I love the bugeyes. There are two sonic yellow ones at my school. I like the interiors of the '04 and '05 models though. I hated the new styling at first but its grown on me. I was waxing my car in the parking lot the other day and one drove by and it looked sweet.

That the Legacy GT and Forester XT SUPPOSEDLY have. I don't think anyone yet can confirm or deny whether or not the LGT/FXT have a stronger transmission than the WRX. Or whether or not it's true, remains to be seen. I would rekon the only transmission change for 06, would be a FULL RA width gearset.

I'd prefer the 05 STi vs. the 04.

It's just better in almost every way. Quicker steering, wider wheels (without gaining much weight. 17lbs, 8" wide, and forged :)), beefier hubs, and a few different changes.

If I was getting a WRX, I'd get an 06. If I was getting an STi, I'd try for an 05 :).

I heard the 06 STi is supposed to put out about 320 HP or something insane like that....
