EA82T easy swap for a 90 Legacy AWD?

Post by Pagong »

just what the topic says...

My 90 Legacy L AWD has suffered a tragic demise.
Lost compression on one cylinder, another one is on its way out.
BAsically a new engine is needed.

Will this motor from 85-94 DL GL10 work with the Legacy? I guess its just like the loyale turbo model....
1990 Legacy L S/W AWD
1995 Legacy L S/W AWD

Both stock for now.......

The EA engines wont bolt up to the EJ trans, they are a full generation away with little in common with the EJ stuff, including the control system/ECU. Besides, the EA82T has less power (115hp) than the N/A EJ22.

Dont get me wrong the EA's are great and tough as nails, I love my EA82T powered RX, it moves pretty good and handles better than a stock Legacy (its about 800lb lighter too).

You can probably find a lower mile EJ cheaper anyway.

No matter how broke I am... I always seem to find two cents.
