Removing back reflector plate

Post by Splinter »

I want to remove the big red panel on the back of the trunk so I can apply dynamat to the trunk frame.

I removed all the nuts (at least the ones that were actually there, gary? :P) but it still wouldnt come off

I must be missing something pretty obvious

Anyone know?

Did you get all of them? I think there are like 8. At least, that's how many there are on my 91.

Wasn't me man... I never had the back of that car apart, lol. I'll pass the blame on to th PO before me. :P

I think you will find that along with the nuts the panel is sealed/glued in place. Careful pulling and prying should get it free, but be sure you get it sealed back up or you will have a pond in your spare tire well.

might not be worth it for just a bit of dynamat.

I hear ya, the rattle would drive me nuts too. Maybe try to snug it up with all the nuts in place, if that dont do it then go deeper.

Just make sure your nuts are snug first.

i took mine off.

cant remember exactly since it has been a while. but it was not glued on. and there were a ton of nuts to remove. a couple were hidden behind some of the frame bracing i think.
