Check out and replace your fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, change oil (use proper viscosity), check your intake for small vaccum leaks, and maybe try seafoaming her.

It happened on my TW before I swapped it. Made a shuddering noise when accelerating at low speeds when turning. Later, the AWD stopped working, which was the last straw.

Never regretted swapping in a 5MT.

My torque bind is sporatic..sometimes I can get away without grinding at all. Other times...it's disheartening.

Weazel240,

See Dave's writeup here:

http://legacycentral.org/library/torquebind.htm

And, yes, more than likely you've got torquebind.

I'm not a certified master mechanic or anything and perhaps DLC or others would care to comment on it but it seems as though you may be able to drive around for a while before you get it fixed or swap trannies.

I drove my car for quite a while, even Autocrossed it, and had to put up with a whole winter on worn Kumho 712s, a turbo engine and FWD, after that finally happened.

You can keep going, but it will get worse.

Will it get worse if you don't grind the shit out of it? I would tend to think if you eased it around with out making it grind you wouldn't have an issue.

It will get worse at a slower rate if you drive normally, but it should eventually fail and you'll lose the rear drive. It could be six months, it could be six years, who knows.

Sorry to bring this thread back up, but is that red a stock color for any year after 91?

Also, weazel240, have you ever driven through Pennsburg, or Trexlertown PA? I only ask because I saw the same 93 or 94 Rio Red Turbo in both places at different times. If it wasn't you, whoever it was probably thought I was a nut or something, because I followed them for a while
