Ok in my vast effort to find why my car is being gay i noticed that it was leaking oil from a part that i cant identify so may be you could help....
this is the cap that was on top of it.....
Also unrelated problem i tested my coil pack and got 2100 ohms for the secoundary coil and 4.5 ohms for the primary coils but the chiltons says that thge primary coil should be 0.7 ohms what is the likeliness of them melting and gaining resistance if they broke wouldnt it short out and have a lower resistance?
Also some times my car drains the batery when off it has bee a weeek and a half and a brand new batary was at 4 volts I drove it once before me major problems with the ignition/coolent/everything else.(i really am getting mad at this thing)
The top part is simply a cap to the back of the passenger side head. There IS an O-ring seal that fits on that cap. So check that o-ring. It probably doesnt look like an O-ring anymore, more of a special ring bacause it is old and compressed.

Thats where the back of the cam is. The oil is there to lubricate the valve train.
I suspect that the cap is there because on turbo heads, there is a different piece that bolts up to those bolt hose and this is where the oil comes out to feed the turbo. I think, at least this is how it looks to me when looking at my turbo heads.

That's not the reason for that hole. The reason for that hole is to allow removal and installation of the camshaft. It just so happens that on turbo engines that same area is used for oil and coolant. I think coolant.

It may be an aid in the installation and removal, but it is obviously more that that. It was designed for a purpose, and that purpose is the oil for the turbo. I may be wrong, but I but money that the turbo oil outlet would bolt onto the NA head. I have compared them side by side but never actually swapped the parts. I know that the cam sensor part is interchangeable on the turbo and NA heads.
If it was just the installation and removal, then they would have just went with the cap like the drivers head.

The driver side head doesn't have a cap on that section of the head, that part has the camshaft support (camshaft sensor) when used on the drive side. Both of the heads are the same part number. You have to flip it around to use it on the other side. A turbo coolant/oil drain dealie may bolt on there, but that was not the original intent of that hole. The EJ22E was designed and released before the EJ22T.

Is so a cap on the driverside head..... It is the press in cap. But I see what you are saying for the reverse. I was referring to the cap on the back side of the head, which is capped off.
