Probably the drive shaft from a Legacy wagon with a 5MT.

You will need new front axles (which can come from the wagon whose driveshaft you need).

As long as the new tranny has a 3.9:1 front diff, you won't even need to swap out your diff. If it's a 4.11:1, then you need the rear diff from the Impreza as well, and you can use your current rear axles with that.

You need to find a driveshaft that fits between your transmission and your differential. Since all the differentials are the same length, and all the transmissions are the same length you need a driveshaft that fits any manual first generation legacy.

Your front axles are fine. Your rear axles are where the problem lies. If you use the 99 RS rear diff you will need 99 or newer rear axles, If you use any other 4.111:1 rear diff that is 98 or older you can use your stock axles.

The automatic front axles are the same as the manual transmission front axles? I had no idea.

Hardy is also right about the rear axle thing. I didn't even see 99, just rs, lol. 99+, use those rear axles. pre 98, use your axles.

I think there is a part number difference, but they work.

They work. I'm using FWD AT axles on my AWD MT.
