Thinking about buying 2000 2.5rs coupe
what do you think.
asking $5500
130K miles
auto tranny
looks brand new in the pics, going to see it in person tomorrow I think.
I was thinking about taking my turbo leg off the road. I was thinking of using the rs for my winter car and maybe in the summer swapping my turbo motor into the rs. Anyone out there with a turbo leg engine in an rs? is it worth it?
Thanks

Geez! People are driving the shit out of these RS's! The girl I know that has one has 102k on hers, and Huck369's RS for sale has over 100k. And these are all 2000 or later!!!
Plus the auto tranny, eww...
But hey, they're fun cars and just as reliable as any other Subaru. I say do it if you want to...
But why would you possibly want to junk your wagon? After all the work you've done to it?

Never fully understood the appeal of the first gen Impreza.
Someone hit 100k miles on an STi a lil while ago.

Sorry, but in my own opinion, 5500 for a car with over 100k on it that hasn't been modified very much isn't worth it. That car's been driven over 20k a year..that's hard on them..they aren't meant to do that.

That's a steal.
I love my 2000 RS. It is not as thrilling as my SS, but everything else is better about it: reliable, predicatable, well-behaved, clean, light weight, everything works right, it shifts like you're pressing buttons, gas mileage way better than the SS even with the same power output. It is still a "nice new car" feeling.... no funny noises and crap that doesn't work right like my SS. Oh yeah, and the gear ratios are much more fun and I like the way it looks. For the record, my 2000 has 100k miles too.
Yeah, dropping your 2.2T into that body would be the perfect Subaru IMO. I am tempted to do that every day. These are the advantages specific to the RS body IMO
* gear ratios lower than any later Impreza
* weight less than any later Impreza (600+ lbs less than an STI)
* real hood scoop
* fog lights for those mountain roads
* some aftermarket support
But, I've never done it (yet) so I can't testify to how easy it would be... I guess you need that info for the "worth it"? part of the equation.

Well guys it was sold b4 I had a chance to go look at it. I'm not surprised at all. I'm a little confused as to what might be the best way to go from here. I love having my wagon but I think the tranny is on its way out. I'm not sure but I dont think the awd is working too well. The tranny makes some nasty whining noise more so when its cold. I need a car so I figured I'd give my infiniti to my parents and trade in their altima and just get a left over wrx (pre-vagina) and use that for my daily driver until the summer when I can buy myself a a nice 2 seater like I was planning on doing anyway. I had my eye on a '04 350z but its not at luxurious as I would like lol, I'm too used to heated seats and leather lol.
