Is it possible to be running this rich without noticing it?

Heads, valves, pistons, rods, crankshaft, etc...

Is it possible to be running this rich without noticing it?

Post by DeusExMachina »

Recently I've been attempting to re-tune my car for colder weather. I take some logs with my wideband...9.6 AFR into boost? Thats the lowest threshold on the sensor...it pegs down. I reset my eManage to stock mapping. Same thing. I run 13 psi on stock maps, pretty much stock car except for exhaust and intercooler, same thing..reset the car's ECU, the same.

The car drives like it always has. I pulled a plug, looked good, smelled it, didn't smell like it was drenched in fuel. I see no smoke when driving the car hard. The wideband seems to read normally at all other times.

I'm pretty certain my wideband decided to make itself a narrow band all of a sudden, but I'm real nervous about washing my cylinder walls.

Anyone got any input?

Does closed loop seem to be working correctly?

At idle, do air/fuel ratios bounce above and below 14.7:1, but stay fairly close?

Yeah, it seems to bounce around, I remember usually it would stay pretty dead on 14.7. Now it bounces a LOT. Sort of dramatically, too. No difference in the feel of idle.

Hmm, that's a little odd... It is a little weird that it would start bouncing around more than it used to.

What does it do if you disconnect the ECU's oxygen sensor input?

Haven't tried it yet...I'll give it a go tomorrow. The sensor is new as of last spring, though.

Okay..update..
My wideband isn't bad unless the Zeitronix controller is. I haven't unplugged the ECU's o2 yet..but wont it just run rich without it?

I'm cleaning my MAF as we speak..I re-did my post-turbo/intercooler piping with silicone couplers to make sure there's no leaks...didn't do anything.

What could make the car go so rich? I did some logs...10 psi I'm getting 74% IDCs at a highest. That doesn't sound like much considering 11psi is 80%.

It seems to only have started when the weather got cold.
